Every bundle targets either all your products, one or more collections, or a hand-picked set of products. By the end of this you will have your bundle pointed at the right products and will understand the rule that causes most publishing failures: only one active bundle may apply to a given product.

The three targeting options
On the Settings tab, under Product selection.
Option | What it covers | Follow-up controls |
| Every product in your store, including ones added later | None |
| Everything in the chosen collections |
|
| Only the products you pick |
|
All products is simplest and best when the same offer suits your whole catalogue, for example a straightforward buy-two-save-ten across a single-category store.
Specific collections keeps working as your catalogue grows. A new product added to the collection picks up the bundle automatically, which makes this the best choice for most stores with more than a handful of products.
Specific products gives exact control and no surprises, at the cost of maintenance. Every new product needs adding by hand.
💡 Collections are usually the right answer. They give you different offers for different categories while still picking up new products automatically.
The one-bundle-per-product rule
Only one active bundle may apply to any given product. Atlas refuses to publish a bundle that would overlap an existing one, with a message naming the exact clash.
What you are doing | When it is refused | Message |
Creating an all-products bundle | Any other bundle exists |
|
Creating a specific-products bundle | An all-products bundle exists |
|
Creating a specific-products bundle | Another bundle covers one of the same products |
|
Creating a collection bundle | The same collection is already covered |
|
Creating a collection bundle | An all-products bundle exists |
|
The rule exists because two bundles on one product would mean two competing sets of automatic discounts, and neither Shopify nor the customer would have a sensible way to resolve which applies.
See Why am I getting a bundle conflict error? for how to find the bundle that is blocking you.
Planning around the rule
⚠️ An all-products bundle blocks every other bundle on your store. If you plan to run different offers for different categories, do not start with an all-products bundle.
Two workable patterns:
One bundle for everything. Use All products with a single offer structure. Simple, and appropriate for a focused store.
One bundle per collection. Use Specific collections, with each bundle covering collections no other bundle covers. This scales, and it lets you tune the discount to each category's margin.
Set the collections up in Shopify before building the bundles. Collections that overlap in Shopify will produce bundles that conflict in Atlas.
Products must be published to the Online Store
Every product a bundle targets must be published to the Online Store sales channel in Shopify. Otherwise publishing is refused with {Product title} is not published in the Online Store.
To fix it: open the product in Shopify, find Sales channels in the right-hand column, and make sure Online Store is included.
If Atlas cannot find the channel at all you will see Could not find 'Online Store' publication, which means the Online Store channel is not active on your store. Add it in Settings, then Apps and sales channels.
Changing targeting on a live bundle
You can change the targeting of an existing bundle. Edit it, change Product selection, and publish again.
Two things to expect:
The same conflict rules apply. Widening a bundle's reach can now clash with a bundle it did not clash with before.
Products dropped from the targeting lose the offer immediately once you publish. Customers on those product pages stop seeing the bundle, and the discount stops applying to new orders.
ℹ️ Orders already placed are unaffected. Changing targeting only changes what future customers see and receive.
