Why did my Atlas features stop working after I switched themes?

Atlas extensions are enabled per theme. A new theme starts with all three off, so everything stops at once until you enable them there.

The Atlas extensions are enabled per theme, not per store. A theme you have just published starts with all three off, so your pages, bundles and cart drawer stop working at the same moment. Enable them on the new theme and everything comes back. Nothing has been lost.

In this article:

Step 1: Enable the extensions on the new theme

Open your Atlas dashboard and look at the Theme extensions card. It reports on your published theme, which is now the new one, and all three will likely need attention.

Extension

Action

Atlas Page Builder

Select Activate, then Save in the theme editor

Atlas Cart Upsells

Select Activate, then Save in the theme editor

Atlas Bundler

Select Add to theme, position the block, then Save

⚠️ Pressing Save in the theme editor is what applies each change. Opening the editor and closing it leaves the setting off.

Step 2: Republish your pages to the new theme

Enabling the embed lets Atlas pages render, but the pages themselves are still in your old theme. They were written into that theme's files and did not travel with you.

For each Atlas page you want on the new theme:

  1. Find the page row in your Atlas dashboard.

  2. Select Publish again.

  3. Choose the new theme.

ℹ️ Republishing does not count again towards your published pages allowance. A page counts once, however many times and to whichever themes you republish it.

Step 3: Check your bundles

Bundles are stored in Atlas rather than in your theme, so the bundle itself survived. What did not survive is the Atlas Bundler block on your product template.

  1. Confirm the Theme extensions card shows Added.

  2. Confirm the block is on the product template your bundled products actually use, not only the default one.

  3. Open a bundled product on your storefront and check the offers appear.

Your discounts stayed active throughout, which is why you may have seen discounts applying at checkout while no offer was visible on the page.

Step 4: Check your cart drawer

Your cart drawer configuration is also stored in Atlas and survived the theme change.

  1. Confirm Atlas Cart Upsells shows Active.

  2. Confirm one drawer is still set to Active in Atlas.

  3. Add something to the cart on your storefront and confirm the Atlas drawer opens.

What you have not lost

Nothing in Atlas is stored in your theme except the published pages themselves.

Doing this in the right order next time

💡 Set up the new theme before you publish it, not after. Every step below happens while your old theme is still serving customers, so there is no window where the store is broken.

  1. Install or duplicate the new theme, leaving it unpublished.

  2. Enable both Atlas app embeds on it.

  3. Add the Atlas Bundler block to its product template or templates.

  4. Republish your Atlas pages into it.

  5. Preview the theme and check everything: a product page, a bundle, the cart drawer.

  6. Publish the theme.

Done this way, customers see no interruption at all.

Still not working

Start a chat from the bubble in the bottom right of Atlas, or email support@helloatlas.io. Either way, include:

  • your store URL

  • the name of the old theme and the new one

  • a screenshot of the Theme extensions card

  • which specific feature is still missing
