Who this is for: Hosts and Cleaning Companies cleaning a Landing home.
For the standard your work needs to meet, see Landing Cleaning Standards.
How do I clean the washer and dryer?
Make sure the washer and dryer are empty.
Wipe down the face of the washer and dryer.
If it is a front-load washer, wipe the rubber door seal.
Empty the dryer lint tray so the screen is completely lint free.
Clean behind the dryer and remove any debris or lint.
Leave the washer door open so it can air out and dry.
Check that they work. The washer should drain with no leaks, and the dryer should heat. If either does not, submit a maintenance request.
The washer and dryer may be stacked or side by side, depending on the home.
How do I reset the mop, vacuum, and broom?
The vacuum, mop, and broom stay in the home for the member, so leave them clean and ready to use.
Vacuum: empty the canister into the trash, check for and clear any blockages, spot clean the filter, and wipe the outside. Leave it clean and staged in the utility area.
Mop: if the reusable mop pad needs cleaning, hand wash it in the sink and hang it to dry in the utility closet. Empty the mop bucket, then rinse and dry it. Stand the mop upright in the utility closet so it can dry.
Broom and dustpan: empty the dustpan and wipe them down.
How do I clean the utility closet?
Clear any debris, and wipe down the shelves.
Sweep or mop the floor.

How do I check the air filter?
The air filter is usually behind its own return-air vent, in a separate spot from the utility closet, such as a hallway wall or ceiling. Check the filter. If it is dirty, clean it. If it needs replacing, submit a maintenance request. Do not replace it yourself.
To clean the filter:
Turn off the thermostat or HVAC system first.
Slide the filter out of the vent.
Vacuum the dust off with the brush attachment, or gently tap it out. If it is a washable filter, rinse it and let it dry completely before putting it back. Never put a wet filter back in.
Slide it back in with the airflow arrow pointing toward the vent.
If the filter is torn or will not come clean, submit a maintenance request for a replacement.
What if something is damaged, missing, or needs maintenance?
Check that the washer hoses are connected and it drains with no leaks, the dryer heats and the lint screen is clear, and there are no foul odors from the washer or dryer. Regular wear and tear is expected, so you do not need to report it. If you see major damage, or something is missing, create a maintenance ticket so Landing can handle it, choosing the issue type that fits. Report any other maintenance issue the same way, such as a leak, a clog, the air filter, the lighting, or a door, choosing the matching issue type. See Making a Maintenance Request for how to submit one.
