Cleaning and Staging the Patio

Use this article to clean and stage the patio or balcony of a Landing home, along with the exterior doorway. If the home does not have a patio or balcony, there is nothing to do here.

This covers the home's own patio or balcony and the area just outside the front door. For the standard your work needs to meet, see Landing Cleaning Standards.

How do I clean the patio?

  1. Sweep the patio floor and clear all debris, including trash and any animal droppings.

  2. Wipe down the patio furniture and the railings.

  3. Remove cobwebs from the corners and the outside light fixtures.

  4. Spray and scrub the door track and threshold to remove dirt.

  5. Sweep the exterior doorway and the area just outside the front door, and throw away any garbage you find.

  6. Take the trash you collect with you and dispose of it properly. See Trash Disposal at a Landing Property.

How do I stage the patio?

  1. Arrange the patio furniture neatly. If the set has seat cushions, place them on the chairs. Not every set has cushions, so this will vary from home to home.

  2. Take a photo of the fully cleaned and staged patio.

What if something is damaged, missing, or needs maintenance?

Check that the patio lights work. You only need to clean the inside of the windows and doors; if the outside of a window is dirty, that is a maintenance request, not something you clean. Regular wear and tear is expected, so you do not need to report it. If you see major damage, or something is missing, create a maintenance ticket so Landing can handle it, choosing the issue type that fits. Report any other maintenance issue the same way, such as a broken railing, a patio light, or the exterior of a window, choosing the matching issue type. See Making a Maintenance Request for how to submit one.
