Who this is for: Hosts and Cleaning Companies finishing a job at a Landing home.
This does not cover how to clean or stage each area. For that, see the area articles and Landing Cleaning Standards.
Do a final walkthrough
Walk through every room and check your work against Landing Cleaning Standards.
Confirm the lights and appliances work, and that nothing was missed, such as under the beds, behind doors, and in the corners.
Check the small finishing touches: beds made, toilet seats and lids down, toilet paper on the holders, and remotes in place.
Reset the home
Set the thermostat to 72 degrees.
Close the windows and the blinds.
Turn off all the lights, unless it is an assisted member check-in job. For an assisted member check-in, leave the home bright and welcoming instead: turn on the lamps and the kitchen under-cabinet and microwave lights.
Make sure every trash can has a fresh liner.
Take out the trash
Take all the trash from the unit with you and dispose of it in the community dumpster, even if the property has valet trash. For where and how to dispose of it, see Trash Disposal at a Landing Property.
Empty the vacuum canister into the trash before you go.
Take the final photos
Take the photos your job asks for before you lock up.
Lock up and handle the keys
Lock all exterior doors, including any patio or balcony door.
Handle the keys as the home's access instructions say. Return keys to the KeyNest, KeyCafe, lockbox, or leasing office where directed. Never leave the only set of keys locked inside. If you need a key to get back in while you finish loading your car, keep it with you until everything is out, then return it. For how to return keys, see Getting In.
