Accent Wall Painter

Use this article when you have an Accent Wall Painter job in the Host App. It covers what the job is about, what to bring, what you should never skip, and what to do if something is not right.

Who this is for: Hosts with a painter credential.

What is this job about?

You paint one to four accent walls in an empty Landing home. Normally that is the sofa wall in the living room, or the TV wall in some layouts, and the headboard wall in each bedroom. The floor plan in the job shows which walls to paint, and you confirm it with your Install Coordinator before you start. For the full painting standards, see Landing Painting.

Unless the job says otherwise, the color is Sherwin Williams SW 6195 Rock Garden, in Super Paint with a velvet finish. Before you set off, confirm with your Install Coordinator whether the paint is waiting for you to collect at Sherwin Williams, whether you need to buy it with your PEX Card, or whether it is already in the home. This is a critical job, so if you cannot make it, let Landing know as early as you can.

Don't skip these

Complete every task in the Host App as instructed, and upload the photos each task asks for. A job is not complete until every task is done. Pay particular attention to these:

  1. "Paint Loction and Color." Confirm the unit number matches the floor plan, and which walls and color you are painting, with your Install Coordinator. The wall dimensions on the plan are estimates.

  2. "Wall Prep." Put drop cloths over every floor you will paint above, use painters tape for straight edges, and remove the light and outlet covers. Do not use a paint sprayer.

  3. "Paint Application." Apply two solid coats per accent wall. You do not need primer. Put the light and outlet covers back when you finish.

  4. "Clean Up & Storage." Rinse any sink you used so no paint is left, take the rollers and debris with you, and put the sealed leftover paint cans in the Landing storage room at the property.

What if something is not right?

The wall is brick, unusually high or wide, or an unusual type. Do not paint it. Ask your Install Coordinator first, since only drywall should be painted.

The wall needs more than minor patching. Let Landing know before you paint. Small fixes with caulk or spackle are fine.

The paint order is not ready or is the wrong color. Let your Install Coordinator know before you start.

You have paint left over. Answer "Did You Use All The Paint?" with the colors left, and upload a photo of where you stored them.
