Step 1: Create a New Job

Check out our in-depth article on how to create a new job

Step 2: Select the content template for your reference feedback survey

1. Select template

Start by clicking the + Select template button in the Job page

From here, you have three options:

  • Create new - you will proceed to start creating a custom reference feedback survey from scratch.

  • Create new from selection - you will have an opportunity to use the selected template as a basis for your reference feedback survey, but adjust it to tailor it better to your job.

  • Add to job - attach the selected template as-is.

You can preview what the reference feedback will look like for referees by clicking on the “Preview” button, which you can see when you hover over one of the templates.

2. Create template and select content

The method of selecting content (detailed in the following steps) is the same for the “Create new” and “Create new from selection” options.

In the “Create new from selection” option, the selection options will be already pre-filled but can be edited.

Select survey modules

Now you need to decide which reference feedback modules you want included in the reference survey by simply toggling on the modules that are relevant for your reference feedback process.

Note that some modules are a single question and some are group of questions used to evaluate the selected area.

Don’t see what you are looking for? You have also an option to add a custom question with a free text response format at the bottom of the screen:

Custom free-text questions:

Add skill questions

Next, add skills to the mix! In order to do so, consider the most important competencies a candidate has to have to be successful for your job.

You can easily find the skill you need by typing a relevant keyword in the “Search” function in our skills library:

Don’t see what you are looking for? You can also create a custom skill.

Please note, that if you use the custom skill you will not be able to see the benchmark score of the reference’s feedback later on.

3. Preview

Do the final review of your selection in the final “Preview” step! In case you are not happy with what you see, you can always go back and make the necessary adjustments.

When you are ready, simply click “Confirm”.

You have an option of either:

  • using the selection as a custom survey (you will not be able to reuse these settings for your new job)

  • saving it as a template (in this case, you will see it next time you enter “Select the template” step)

☝🏼 Tip: Admins and regular users can leverage the “Add to Library” function to create templates your organization can reuse going forward.

Step 3: Preview and adjust the selected content template after creation

✅ Great news - now you can preview what your reference feedback survey currently looks like for your job and update it when you feel it’s necessary!
