The Math Practice Generator is an AI-powered tool designed to help educators quickly create customized math practice activities aligned to specific standards, skills, or concepts. Whether you’re reinforcing a new topic, creating a warm-up, or preparing differentiated practice, this tool provides flexible question sets that strengthen understanding and fluency across grade levels.

What Can the Math Practice Generator Do?

The Math Practice Generator:

  • Creates custom sets of math questions tailored to your grade, topic, and skill focus.

  • Offers multiple-choice and short-answer formats to support varied assessment needs.

  • Includes the option to generate sample problems with complete solutions for modeling or guided practice.

  • Aligns with HMH programs when selected, ensuring instructional consistency and standards alignment.

  • Allows manual input of standards or real-world contexts for practice creation when no HMH program is selected.

Perfect for classwork, homework, intervention, or skill reinforcement, this tool saves you time and provides meaningful, ready-to-use math practice in minutes.

Using the Tool

  1. If applicable, select an HMH Program to align practice with curriculum content.

  2. If a program was not selected, manually select the Grade to align the practice problems accordingly.

  3. Next, determine the number of multiple choice questions and the number of short answer questions you’d like.

  4. If you'd like a sample practice problem, check the box to add a sample problem with a solution, perfect for modeling or review.

  5. Type, paste, or upload the skill, standard, or topic students will practice into the Standard, Skill, or Concept box. You can also add a real-world context to make the problems more meaningful (e.g., “multiplying decimals,” “comparing prices at a store”)

  6. Then click Generate and instantly receive practice questions aligned to your selections.

What’s Next

After your practice set is generated:

  • Review the questions and solutions for accuracy and alignment to your instructional goals.

  • Use HMH Assist (on the left-hand chat panel) to refine your prompt, adjust difficulty, or request additional practice sets.

  • Copy or export your results as a PDF or Word document using the icons at the bottom.

  • Share or assign your practice materials directly with students or colleagues.
