What is a transport tow?

Transport tows are easy, straightforward tow-only jobs. These are for fully operational vehicles typically being transported from an initial location to an easy-to-access auto-retailer parking lot or service hub drop-off location.

Instructions that will ensure a smooth pick-up and delivery process can be found in your HONK app prior to dispatch. Once you have been dispatched you will find all relevant information in the Transfer Checklist section within the HONK Partner App. It will instruct where to find the vehicle keys and what you’ll need to do to complete this job.

Remember, you can always start the vehicle if needed, to properly load it onto your truck. Just be sure to place the keys back in the vehicle where you found them.

How do these jobs work?

Step 1: Select available driver & confirm the required drop off time

The HONK job alert will state that it is a Transport Tow at the top of the app screen. Whether you are dispatching yourself or one of your operators, you will need to confirm your company is able to meet the required drop-off time. For transport tows adhering to the agreed-upon pickup and drop-off times is essential. Once you have selected your driver, press Continue and then Confirm & Dispatch or Decline Job if you are unable to take the job.

Step 2: Review the job notes as you normally would

These jobs are about as normal as can be with one minor difference. Prior to being dispatched, you’ll only see the pickup location city. Once you’ve accepted the job and have been dispatched, you’ll then see the exact pickup address and drop-off address. In the active job, you can look in the Transfer Checklist section to view detailed notes of where to find the keys, the vehicle title, and more for this specific job.

Step 3: Get on your way to the pickup location - be sure to dispatch the operator that you selected within the app.

It is incredibly important that the operator who was selected in the app is the one who arrives to pick up the vehicle. This ensures that ETAs are met and that there is no confusion in communications between HONK and the client.

Step 4: Arrive on scene and if needed, move the vehicle using its keys to load it onto your truck

When you arrive if you need to reposition the vehicle to get it onto your truck, you can use the keys that are with the vehicle (refer to Transfer Checklist for notes of where to find keys). Proceed by driving the car into a position that is best suited to load it onto your truck.

Step 5: Deliver the vehicle within the required drop off time you agreed to

Once the vehicle is loaded you will need to deliver it within the required drop-off time you agreed to when you accepted the job. If any issues arise during the job, you can always click the Manage Job button from that active job to report the problem or get in quick contact with a HONK representative.

Once at the delivery location, you will notice HONK drop-off signage to indicate where to unload the vehicle. Be sure to place the keys back where you found them within the vehicle or hand them directly to the lot attendant or on-site representative unless otherwise noted in the Transfer Checklist.

That's it! You're ready to request payment. It's that easy!

*In some cases when dispatched on more than one active HONK job, you may be required to enter the last 8-digits of the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) for the vehicle you are dropping off. The VIN can be found on the front of the dashboard on the driver’s side of the vehicle or the driver’s side door pillar.
