Important:
This medication is given by subcutaneous injection (into the fatty tissue under the skin), so the injection technique and needle sizes differ from intramuscular injections such as TRT.
Before you inject:
Store the medication in the fridge as instructed by your pharmacy.
Use a new needle and syringe for every injection.
Rotate injection sites each time to reduce irritation.
Avoid injecting into bruised, sore, or irritated skin.
For subcutaneous injections, there is no need to draw back to check for blood due to the short needle and injection depth.
How to Inject:
Remove the vial lid and clean the rubber stopper with an alcohol wipe. Allow it to air dry.
Using a new needle and syringe, draw up the prescribed dose.
Point the needle upward and gently press the plunger until a small drop appears at the tip of the needle (“priming” the needle). Small air bubbles remaining are not harmful.
Inject into the abdomen at least 2 cm away from the navel.
If you can pinch about 1 inch of belly fat, inject at a 90-degree angle. If not, inject at a 45-degree angle.
Supplies:
Injection supplies need to be purchased separately from your medication. You will need needles sized 29G–31G, available from most pharmacies or reputable online suppliers such as Medshop.com.au or Precisemedical.com.au
