All prescriptions are issued electronically.
To generate these legally, we must use your Individual Healthcare Identifier (IHI).
The IHI is retrieved through a secure lookup against the Medicare database, which requires your full name, date of birth, and Medicare number.
2. Identity Verification
We must verify your identity to ensure we are providing treatment to the correct person.
Medicare information allows us to match you against the national patient database and prevent errors or misuse.
This process is mandated by national eHealth regulations and applies to all digital prescribing systems in Australia.
