Ask AI Companion questions about your time off, your team, company policies and other supported topics directly in Slack, without opening Humaans.
Slack conversations appear alongside your other AI Companion interactions in Humaans.
Before you begin
AI Companion in Slack uses AI credits. To learn more, visit AI credits.
AI Companion is only available for direct messages.
If Slack is already connected, reconnect to use it with AI Companion. For more on this, visit If Slack is already connected.
Requirements for using AI Companion in Slack
AI Companion needs to be enabled. To learn more, visit Use AI Companion.
The Slack integration needs to be connected. To set this up, visit Enable AI Companion in Slack below.
You need the Can access AI Companion permission.
Your Slack email must match the email on your Humaans profile.
Use Slack to ask AI Companion questions
To ask AI Companion a question directly in Slack:
Open Slack.
Find the Humaans app under Apps in the sidebar.
Start a conversation by entering your question in the message field.
AI Companion answers in a thread. To ask a follow-up question, reply in the same thread. AI Companion keeps the context of what you've already asked. Start a new conversation when you move to an unrelated topic.
If AI Companion's response includes tables or charts, these will only be visible in Humaans. Slack answers are text only, with links back to the sources they came from.
Enable AI Companion in Slack
If Slack isn't already connected, follow these steps to set up the integration with Humaans:
Click Integrations in the main navigation.
Click Configure on the Slack card.
Click Add to Slack.
Sign in to Slack if prompted, and choose the workspace.
Click Allow to authorise Humaans.
You return to Humaans and the integration shows as connected. Pick the channel for daily updates, the time they post, and which events they cover. To read more, visit Enabling integration for Slack.
In Settings > AI, you will see that the Slack AI Companion card displays a green Enabled badge.
If Slack is already connected
If Slack is already connected, you will need to reconnect it to use it with AI Companion. Reconnecting grants Humaans the Slack permissions needed for AI Companion.
In Settings > AI, the Slack AI Companion card will display an "Update available" badge.
To reconnect Slack:
Click Settings.
Click AI.
Click Configure on the Slack card.
Click Reconnect Slack.
Click Allow to authorise Humaans in Slack.
Your connected channel and notification settings will remain the same after reconnecting.
Disable AI Companion in Slack
Click Settings.
Click AI.
In the General tab, click Configure on the Slack AI Companion card.
Select Disabled.
Click Save.
AI Companion stops answering in Slack. If an employee sends AI Companion a message in Slack, it directs them back to Humaans. Conversations from Slack remain accessible in Humaans.
