As the Assignee, why am I not receiving email notifications when a new Task or Issue is created?

This article explains why an Assignee of a new Task or Issue will not receive an email notification.

If you're creating a new Task or Issue, email notifications depend on whether the creator and assignee are the same person.

No email is sent in the following case:

  • The creator and assignee are the same person. This means if you're assigning the Task or Issue to yourself, you will not receive an email notification.

An email is sent to the assignee when:

  • The creator and the assignee are different people. The assignee will receive an email notification immediately after the Task or Issue is created.

Example for a new Task:

  • If you create a Task and assign it to yourself, no email is sent.

  • If you create a Task and assign it to a teammate, they will receive an email.


Example for a new Issue:

  • If you log in and assign an Issue to yourself, no email is sent.

  • If you assign the Issue to someone else, they will receive a notification.
