Targets
Build an Audience
An audience is a group of individuals you are planning to target in your survey. Building an audience begins in Search or Contacts Management. If you have already saved a group in either tool, they should appear in the list on this page.
Audiences: Lists built from Basic, Advanced, or Map Search
Saved List: Lists built from Contacts Management
If you do not already have an audience created, select ‘New Audience.’ This will take you away from the survey creator but ask you to save your progress. Please review the following guide(s) for more information on creating your audience: Build an Audience
Add multiple saved audiences to your selected targets, up to 15,000 individuals.
Settings
On the settings page you have the power to fine-tune the details of your survey to suit your needs. Hover over the tool tip icon on each feature for a description. Please note that all Survey Settings are optional, except the Start and End Dates and Apartment Include/Exclude.
Let's take a closer look at each feature available to you:
Start and End Dates: Control the Availability of Your Survey
The start and end dates of your survey are crucial for controlling its availability to volunteers in the i360 Walk app. Here's how you can manage them effectively:
Start Date:
The Survey Start Date determines when your survey becomes accessible to assigned volunteers in the i360 Walk app.
If the Survey Start Date is set in the future, the survey will not be available to volunteers until the day(s) after the Start Date.
End Date:
The Survey End Date specifies when the survey becomes unavailable to any volunteers.
On the day of the End Date, the survey will no longer be accessible to volunteers.
Changing End Date:
You have the flexibility to change the End Date of a survey even after it has been published. This allows you to extend the availability of the survey as needed.
If you find that your survey is not showing in the i360 Walk app, it may have expired. In such cases, you can adjust the End Date to make the survey available again.
How to Modify End Date:
Navigate to the survey settings or administration panel.
Locate the option to edit the survey details.
Update the End Date field with the desired date.
Save your changes to apply the new End Date.
By managing the start and end dates of your survey effectively, you can ensure that volunteers have access to the survey when needed and prevent it from being accessible after its intended duration.
Apartments
Use the Include | Exclude selection boxes to either include or exclude apartments in your walkbooks.
Number of households, per walkbook
Use the slider to determine how many households are generated in each walkbook up to 100 households
Legal Text
Use legal text for Volunteers to read at the door when canvassing before they engage the target for the Survey.
Campaign Tag
Add a campaign tag to all targets in the Survey
Dynamic Script/Associate Dynamic Scripts
Dynamic Scripting is recommended for clients who are looking to survey very specific groups. Please contact your account manager if you think Dynamic Scripting may be a good option for your campaign or organization. Learn More here.
Let anyone in the household take the surveys
by default only the Primary or Secondary members of the household are meant to take the Survey. Enabling this setting allows anyone in the household to take the Survey.
Include all households
If enabled all households will be included in the walkbooks no matter how far away the households are. Surveys automatically cluster households in close proximity in walkbooks, making it easier for volunteers to survey walkbooks. Because of this clustering, some homes that are far away from the cluster will be removed from the walkbook because they are not considered "Walkable".
Exclude Secondary household members
if enabled, the survey will include only the primary targets in the survey.
Remove targets who have already voted
If enabled, this removes individuals who have already voted in the current election(s). This data comes from our ABEV reporting. To see which elections are currently being tracked you can:
Navigate to Menu > Search > Basic
Select your desired State
Select the ABEV parameter tab
Select the drop down for elections. All elections in that drop down for your selected State are being tracked. If your desired election is not in the drop down, please contact your Account Manager and they can assist you in possibly adding your election to your system
Exclude recently attempted individuals from
When enabled, this setting allows you to exclude recently attempted targets from the survey. This means that any targets that were canvassed in prior surveys will be removed from the current survey. This helps maintain the integrity of survey data by preventing duplicate survey attempts on the same targets. Once the survey is published, this setting is automatically removed. This ensures that only past survey attempts are considered for exclusion, preventing any disruption to ongoing survey processes.
Cut Walkbooks by Precinct
Walkbooks will be cut by Precinct, and targets with no Precinct data will be removed from the Survey.
Script
Script building is a key step in creating a call survey as it gives volunteers a guide of what to say when talking to voters. As voters interact, volunteers input responses based on the options you provide. Refer to this data to track details like issue support, involvement opportunities, or anything else you'd like to know. Creating a Greeting, a Question, and a Closing Message are mandatory. Since this is a more involved process, we have created a separate guide covering this step. We highly encourage you to review our document on Building a Script for step-by-step guidance on this section.
Assigning Volunteers
Once you've crafted your survey script, it's time to assign volunteers to participate. Here's how you can efficiently assign volunteers to your survey:
Method 1: Individual Assignment:
Hover over the volunteer's name in the list.
Click on "Assign" located at the far right of the row.
Method 2: Batch Assignment - Selecting Volunteers:
Click the checkboxes on the left of the rows for the volunteers you wish to assign.
Click the "Assign" button located on the bottom menu.
Select "Volunteers to Survey" from the options.
Method 3: Batch Assignment - All Volunteers:
Click the "Assign" button on the bottom menu.
Choose "All Volunteers to Survey" from the options.
Upon publishing the survey, Volunteers are automatically assigned 3 walkbooks to start. You can assign more walkbooks to volunteers after the survey has published. Please review our guide on Assigning Volunteers for Walkbooks for more information on the volunteer assignment process. Ensure you have completed steps 1 through 3 before making volunteer assignments.
If you do not already have volunteers created, please refer to our guide on Volunteer Creation for more information.
Review and Publish
The confirmation page provides a summary of the script and options you selected for your survey. Select the pencil icon to make quick changes. At any time, you can go back and forth between pages by selecting ‘Back/Next’ in the bottom action bar OR by navigating the 1-5 bar at the top of the survey creation page. When happy with your survey, select ‘Publish.’
After Publishing
Survey publishing times may vary depending on the number of targets and overall survey creation volume. Please note that your targets started processing prior to publishing, which should improve waiting time. We often see publishing times between 2-4 hours. If your wait time exceeds 4 hours, please contact support@i-360.com.
Additionally, once a survey is published, most changes are not permitted to preserve data. Exceptions to this include:
Assigning or un-assigning volunteers
Adjusting survey start and end times
Review the survey legend from Field > Surveys in the bottom action bar for more information on the status of your publishing.
Target Removal
When generating targets for the walk survey, the system may remove some targets from the walkbooks because the address may be too far to walk to, or may not have walkable streets surrounding it, or an address is not listed for the voter. Each voter that is removed from the Survey is tagged by the system using the "Survey Walkbook Exclusion" category with the Survey Name as the tag name. This allows you to easily create a Call Survey for any voters that were excluded from the Walk Survey so that you can still contact these excluded voters. You can create a call Survey by following this help document.
