Introduction

The project info page is used to manage and display project information for Geosens. You can configure basic project settings, such as project names / abbreviations, location, time zones, and notes, as well as the project display image, project region, and project file storage server. This page also provides tools for creating and managing project monitoring regions.

To access this page: Click on the top left corner to open the side bar, click on ‘Settings’ - 'Project Info' to access the page.

The page typically contains these sections:

  1. Project Details Form (Title, images, timezone, notes, etc)

    • How to use: Select from a dropdown list or type the relevant sector.

  10. FTP Folder / Username / Password:

    • Purpose: Set up the project file-storage server path (please ask high-level global admin to set up the server path and password)

  11. Notes

    • Example: “New M6 Motorway (previously F6 Extension) program of works...”

    • Purpose: A free-text field for any additional project description or instructions.

    • How to use: Click inside the field to type or paste any notes.

2. Project Area

Please note, this project area function is under development.

This section defines the geographical boundaries or coordinates for the project area. You might see fields labeled:

  • Northing 1 / Easting 1

  • Northing 2 / Easting 2

  • … and so forth.

These coordinate fields can be used to create a bounding box or define multiple points for the project’s location. For example, you might specify four corners of a polygon that delineates the monitored area.

  • No data found: Indicates there are no existing coordinate sets.

  • Add New: Click to add a new set of coordinates or define a new region.

  • Edit: If coordinates are already present, click “Edit” to update them.

  • Import / Export: Allows you to bulk-upload or download coordinate data in a compatible file format (CSV, XLS, etc.).

1) How to Add a New Project Area

  1. Click "+New" button to open up the setting panel.

  2. Enter the relevant coordinate values (Northing, Easting, etc.).

  3. Tick "Disabled" button if you wish the area to be created but not in use.

  4. Click Create to create the area with the configured coordinates.

2) Edit Existing Project Area

  1. Tick to select an existing project area from the table.

  2. Click on 'View Grid' to switch to Edit mode.

  3. Click on 'Edit' button to open the setting panel and make necessary changes.

  4. Click on 'Save' to save all the changes.

3) Import / Export Current Project Areas

  1. Import

    • Purpose: Bulk-upload current project areas (e.g., coordinate sets).

    • How to use:

      1. Click Import button at the right top corner of the project area table.

      2. Click to download the data template using the link provided.

      3. Fill-in data as required in the template with the required format.

      4. Drop the prepared CSV file / click to upload the file.

      2. Click on 'Download' button in the pop-up panel.

      3. The system will generate and auto-download the file.

3. FTP File Storage Server

This section will be pre-configured by the Geosens Global Administrator to include the account details and file storage path for the file server. All project data and files will be securely stored and easily traceable within the online server.

For site instruments equipped with FTP capabilities, raw instrument reading files can be automatically uploaded to the designated Geosens file storage path. Users can copy the FTP folder information from this section to their site instruments to set up automated raw file uploads. This facilitates full automation of instrument creation, reading, and calculation processes, ensuring seamless and efficient data management.

Application Example: Configure the site-instrument to automatically upload raw reading data files of the type "XYZ Survey Prism - Raw Reading" in .xlsx format to the specified Geosens remote storage path.

  1. Navigate to Project Info FTP Section, copy the relative information.

  2. For site instruments, open the FTP panel if it supports FTP function for auto-upload. Paste the relative information to the corresponding fields, in order to configure the FTP function.

  3. The relative information would be similar as below:

    1. To set up the overall file storage path to link to Geosens:

      • Copy FTP Server ID from Geosens -> Paste it to the 'Host' field in instrument set up

      • Copy FTP Username from Geosens -> Paste it to the 'User' field in instrument set up

      • Copy FTP Password from Geosens -> Paste it to the 'Password' field in instrument set up

    2. To set up the file storage path for a specific instrument data type:

      • Copy the FTP folder for the specific file type (e.g. XYZ Survey Prisms DATA MASTER . xlsx) -> Paste it to the 'Default remote directory' in instrument set up.

Too Many FTP Folders and hard to find the one you're looking for?

Please refer to How to set up FTP information on Instrument - Option 2.

4. Best Practices & Tips

  1. Ensure correct Time zone

    • The time zone should be set same as the project time zone.

  2. Keep Abbreviations Consistent

    • Use a standardized format for project abbreviations (e.g., M6S1) to maintain clarity across Geosens.

  3. Regularly Update Notes

    • Keep the Notes field up to date with any new project developments or instructions so all team members have the latest information.

  4. Use Clear Images

    • Upload high-quality, relevant images for both the Thumbnail and Main Image to help users identify the project at a glance.

  5. Validate Coordinates in Project Area (function to be developed)

    • Double-check coordinate entries in the Project Area section to ensure accurate instrument monitoring locations.

  6. Alarm SMS Details

    • Make sure your Alarm SMS Header and Footer are concise but informative, so any alerts sent to users are easily identifiable.

5. Troubleshooting

  1. Cannot Save Changes:

    • Ensure all required fields (e.g., Abbreviation, Country) are filled out.

    • Click on the top right corner account icon and click on 'clean up cache' to refresh the system.

    • If the problem persists, contact your system administrator.

  2. Missing Images:

    • Please refer to Image Management - Thumbnail Image folder for instructions on uploading images into this selection list.

    • Refresh the page after uploading to see if the thumbnail or main image appears.
