Scheduler Quick Action Menu

The menu is a right‑click menu on the Calendar that gives you fast, commonly used actions without opening the full shift drawer. It’s designed for day-to-day rostering work - copying, moving, cancelling, and (when applicable) clocking actions.

You can open it by right‑clicking on a shift card in the Calendar. You can also right‑click on empty space in the Calendar to access quick actions for creating (or pasting) a shift into that time slot.

The menu automatically shows (or hides) certain actions based on what you clicked and the shift’s current status. For example, clocking actions only appear when they’re relevant, and actions like delete/cancel may be disabled when a shift is already in a state that shouldn’t be changed.

Right‑clicking a shift (event card)

When you right‑click a shift, you’ll see quick actions for that shift:

Duplicate
Creates a copy of the shift. This is the fastest way to create a similar shift without re-entering details. (Shortcut: Cmd/Ctrl + D)

Copy
Copies the shift to your clipboard so you can paste it elsewhere on the Calendar. (Shortcut: Cmd/Ctrl + C)

Cancel Shift
Cancels the shift. This option may be disabled depending on the shift’s status (for example, if it’s already cancelled or has progressed to a point where cancellation isn’t allowed).

Delete
Deletes the shift. This option may be disabled when deleting isn’t allowed (for example, if the shift has already been clocked in/out or is otherwise protected).

Clocking actions (only when they apply)

Clocking options appear only for single-staff shifts, and only when the shift is in the correct clocking stage:

  • Clock In shows when the shift has not been clocked in yet.

  • Clock Out shows when the shift has been clocked in, but not clocked out yet.

These are intended for quick, operational clocking updates directly from the roster.

Add shift notes (during a shift)

When a single-staff shift is clocked in (but not yet clocked out), you’ll also see:

Add shift notes

This lets staff add notes while the shift is in progress, without leaving the roster view. (View help article for “Adding shift notes during a shift”.)

Right‑clicking empty space (no shift)

When you right‑click on an empty time slot, the menu focuses on actions that help you create new shifts faster:

Create event
Opens the create flow so you can add a new shift at that spot.

Paste
Pastes a previously copied shift into the selected time slot. This is enabled only after you’ve used Copy on a shift. (Shortcut: Cmd/Ctrl + V)

Tips & common questions

If you don’t see an action you expect, it’s usually because the menu is protecting you from doing something that doesn’t make sense for the shift’s current state (for example: clocking options on group shifts, or delete/cancel on shifts that are already progressed).

If you’re planning to move a shift to a new time, the quickest workflow is usually: Copy → right‑click the new time → Paste, then adjust or remove the original shift if required. Alternatively, you can drag the event card to a new time slot.
