This article outlines the method for Integrating your Inbox Monster account with your Salesforce Marketing Cloud instance using the Salesforce Partner Seed List API feature(s).

To start, we'll need to create a new Installed Package within your Salesforce Marketing Cloud instance.

💡 You will need administrative privileges in both Marketing Cloud and Inbox Monster.

  1. Within Salesforce Marketing Cloud, in the top right corner click on your name and select Setup.

2. Within the left hand menu in Platform Tools, expand the Apps dropdown and select Installed Packages.

3. Click New to create a new package.

4. Give the package a name, we suggest InboxMonster API, and a description.

4. Under Components, Click Add Component and Select API Integration. Click Next.

5. Select Server-to-server as the Integration Type. Click Next.

6. Set the following Permissions

  1. Email: Read, Write

  2. Saved Content: Read

  3. Data Extensions: Write

7. Click Save

💡 Note: If you're performing this integration at the Parent BU level and would like to grant permission to Child BUs, this can be performed via the Access tab near the top of this Package Details screen.

8. Copy down the following information

  • Client ID

  • Client Secret

  • Subdomain

9. Within InboxMonster, click the Gear icon ⚙️, select Setup and Integrations and scroll down to Integrations. Select Marketing Cloud API.

10. Within the configuration screen, paste the information copied from step 8 into the form. Click Add Integration.

11. At a scheduled time each day, InboxMonster will update a Data Extension with the most up-to-date Seedlist.

This Data Extension can be found by navigating to Audience Builder > Contact Builder, then clicking on the Data Extensions tab. Search for "InboxMonster" and you should see "InboxMonster Seed Addresses"

Your Marketing Cloud Instance will also be configured using the SeedList API to automatically deploy to the InboxMonster seedlist on any batch email campaigns sent to over 500 subscribers via Email Studio.

The Salesforce Partner Seed List API has several additional benefits, outlined within their official documentation:

  • Email Personalization Rendering: Dynamic email content is automatically rendered for Partner Seeds without the need to manually create attributes for seeds.

  • Subscriber Management: Partner Seeds aren’t added to the All Subscribers list (included in Contact Counts) and aren’t susceptible to Hard and Soft Bounce processing and unsubscribe actions.

  • Super Messages: Partner Seeds don’t count toward super message utilization.

  • Tracking: Partner Seed open and click activities aren’t included in tracking reports. Results vary depending on the open and click behavior of the seed technology in use.

  • Batched Seed List Injection: Partner Seeds are broken into batches and interspersed throughout the send process to avoid all seeds being delivered at one time.
