Inbox Monster’s native integration with Salesforce Marketing Cloud helps marketers effortless get powerful insights via seed lists. When using Journey Builder, you need to set up a simple automation to include seed emails in inbox placements tests.

Check out this three-minute step-by-step tutorial to help you set up the automation. (Transcript Below)

Congratulations - Your Automation is Complete!

💡Note: It may take up to 24 hours for the Inbox Monster seed list to be listed as a Partner Seed List within your Marketing Cloud instance.

Even with just one Automation per day, per domain, you've enabled the Inbox Monster platform to provide comprehensive deliverability monitoring for your full Domain and IP Infrastructure.

Once sent, the full Inbox Placement reports are accessible within the Inbox Monster platform via Delivery > Campaigns.

Additional information about the Salesforce Marketing Cloud Integration can be found here:

Video Transcript:

Inbox Monster natively integrates with Salesforce Marketing Cloud, automatically seeding your email sends from Email Studio and Automation Studio, based on an audience size threshold.

But if you're sending emails from Journey Builder or triggering emails using the Marketing Cloud API, then you'll need to set up a simple automation to include those emails in your Inbox Placement tests.

In this brief tutorial, we'll walk through the steps required for this automation.

To get started, open Automation Studio and click on New Automation.

Next, drag the Schedule Source to the Starting Source placeholder and click "Configure"

Here, you'll define how frequently your test emails are sent - choose your desired cadence for testing deliverability health. We recommend testing daily.

Define a start and end period. We'll set the end period to never and then click "done"

Now, drag the Send Email activity onto the canvas and click "Choose"

Click the Create New Email Activity button and select the email that you would like to send to your Inbox Monster account, then click Next.

Define a name for your activity, and choose the same Send Classification, Sender Profile, and Delivery Profile that you're using for your Journey email. Or, for API-based sends, refer to the triggered sends definition settings.

Click Next and select the List or Sendable Data Extension that contains an internal audience and drag it onto the targeted pane. This audience needs to include a minimum of one (1) record.

Click Next, then ensure the Use Partner Seed List advanced option is enabled, and your InboxMonster list is selected. The Every Send option also needs to be enabled.

Click Next, review the activity summary, and click the confirmation checkbox, then click Finish.

And if you have other emails that you would like to include in your Inbox Placement tests, which use the same send frequency, then you can repeat this process by adding additional Send Email activities to your automation.

Now, define a name for your automation. Click Done and then click Save.

Finally, activate the automation by selecting Active in the schedule panel, and click Activate in the dialogue. You're all done!

When the Automation runs at the defined schedule, the Email will be sent to your internal audience and Inbox Monster account, where you can assess Inbox Placement reporting and other deliverability metrics.

Automating without Integrating?

While we highly recommend the integration, the Automation process outlined above can technically be performed in Salesforce Marketing Cloud instances that are not integrated with Inbox Monster.

Without integrating, you'll be missing out on several key benefits of the Salesforce Partner Seed List API:

  • Seed List Administration for Automatic Updates

  • Seed List Injection for Campaigns mailed to >500 Subscribers

  • Seed List Processing Benefits

    • Email Personalization Rendering (no dynamic content necessary)

    • Subscriber Management (soft/hard bounce immunity)

    • No Super Message Utilization

However, if you're still unable to integrate, the following steps should allow you to perform Inbox Placement tests within Automation Studio:

Step 1: Creating the Data Extension. The Inbox Monster seedlist is available in full via the platform at any time (Gear Icon > Setup and Integrations > Seedlist > Download).

Optional: The .csv provided will allow for manual appending of any placeholder variable fields that may be required for dynamic campaign content (name, company, title, etc.)

Step 2: Creating an Automation. The Automation Creation process we'd use for the new Data Extension is similar to the one outlined in the video above, with a few altered steps outlined with each timestamp below.

  • 1:38: When selecting a Sendable Data Extension, we'd choose the Data Extension we created in Step 1

  • 1:54 - 2:06: There will not be a Use Partner Seed List checkbox present in the Configure Delivery section, so these steps can be omitted.

Step 3: The Run Once feature in the top right of the new Automation can be used to immediately test whether the Automation(s) are being received by the Inbox Monster seedlist as expected.
