Now that you have officially set up your Inbox Monster account, it's time to send an inbox placement test.

If you use Sendgrid as your email service provider, you can send placement tests directly from the Inbox Monster interface.

If you're a fan of automation, use our scheduling tools to set your placement test schedule and let the computers do the work.

More on that below.

Step 1: Setting Up Your Placement Test

To prepare for your first placement test, first you need to integrate your Sendgrid account with your Inbox Monster account. To get started, click on the Gear icon ⚙️ > Setup and Integrations > scroll down to Integrations > click Sendgrid.

Step 2: Enter Sendgrid API Key and Secret Key

After clicking Sendgrid, a panel will pop up asking for you to enter your Sendgrid API key and secret key.

Step 3: Retrieve API keys

To retrieve these details, you can go into your Sendgrid account and go to Settings and then API Keys:

Select 'Create API Key' at the top right:

Give your key a name and select the following permissions

  • Mail Send (Full)

  • Sender Authentication (Full)

  • Design Library (Read)

  • IP Management (Read)

Click 'Create and View'

Copy your API Key to clipboard within Sendgrid. This is to be pasted into Inbox Monster as "API Key".

On your list of created API keys in Sendgrid, retrieve the API Key Name that you assigned and paste that in Inbox Monster as "Key Name".

Click Add Integration, then Done!

CONGRATULATIONS! Your integration is complete and you are ready to send your first placement test.

Step 4: Press the Play Button

At the top of your Inbox Monster UI, you will see a play button. Click on the play button.

Step 4: Finalize The Integration

In the panel, select Sendgrid as your integration option, and complete the following:

  • Add Sending Address and select the Sending Domain for your test from the dropdown.

  • Optional: Select the IP Pool used for your sending domain, if applicable

  • Add your Friendly From

  • Choose the Content you're sending to the seedlist using one of the two methods:

    • Select from any Templates made available via the Sendgrid API Integration, if available

    • Paste your chosen HTML directly into the Content text box

  • Add a Subject Line

  • If you'd like to set a Schedule for future tests, select the toggle next to Set Schedule and chose your preferred cadence.

  • Once everything is set up, click Schedule and Run

Once you've configured one or multiple Seed Schedules, they will be available for review and modification via Gear Icon ⚙️ > Setup and Integrations > Seed Schedules
