Accepted name differences

Before requesting a name change, it's essential to know that we understand that names don’t always appear exactly the same everywhere. In most cases, your session can still be verified if:

Accepted name differences

  • First name short form + Full last name (e.g., Will Gates, if ID is William Gates).

  • Nickname (with similarities to legal first name) + Last Name: (e.g., Willy or Willie Gates, if the ID is William Gates).

Unacceptable Name Formats:

  • The initial only of your first name (e.g., W. Gates, if ID is William Gates).

  • The initial only of your last name (e.g., William G., if ID is William Gates).

  • A shortened version of your last name (e.g., William Gat if ID is William Gates).

  • Common known nicknames (e.g., Bill Gates for William Gates legal name or Bob Gates for Robert Gates)

  • Repeated First or Last Name: (e.g., Will William or Gates Gates if ID is William Gates).

If your name scenario is not listed above, please provide your registered profile name and the name on your ID when contacting our support line.
