Important to know

  • Make sure the integration is active. To learn how, review this article: Rise.ai & Attentive – Activate the Integration.

  • Should you decide to send emails from Attentive as well, we recommend turning off Rise.ai’s native email notifications to ensure customers receive only one message per event. Instructions for disabling Rise.ai emails are provided at the end of this article.

Note: Marketing text messaging and email are subject to legal requirements that vary by region. While Attentive provides tools designed with legal and carrier compliance in mind, your brand is responsible for obtaining and maintaining consent. How to send Gift Card notifications through Attentive

Sending gift card emails and text messages with Attentive requires you to build a Journey, configure it based on how you’re using Rise.ai, and customize its emails/text messages.

a. Select the Journey trigger

  1. In your Attentive dashboard, go to Journeys.

  2. Click Create journey.

  3. Choose Start from scratch.

  4. Under Triggers, select a Rise Journey trigger. For gift card notifications, choose Gift Card Created.

You’ll see a list of Rise.ai events. To set up gift card notifications, focus only on the following gift card related triggers:

**Note: Gift Card created is the primary trigger to start with. The rest of the triggers are optional, in case you find them commercially relevant.

Gift Card Created

Triggered when a gift card is purchased

Other optional triggers (you might not want to use them at all):

  • Gift Card Buyer Confirmation: Triggered when a gift card is bought as a gift (there's a buyer and a recipient, meaning it was bought using the Rise.ai gifting module and not the Add-to-cart button)

  • Gift Card Expiration Changed: Triggered if the expiration date is changed.

  • Gift Card Expired: Triggered after a gift card had expired.

  • Gift Card Loaded: Triggered when credit is added to an existing gift card.

  • Gift Card Redemption: Triggered when a gift card is used at checkout.

Note: each trigger should be used in a different journey.

5. Click Continue and select “Notify subscribers about a transaction” (recommended for transactional notifications).

6. Proceed to the Journey canvas.

b. Customize the Journey to send emails or text messages

Drag the "Send Email", or "Send text message" to the journey and add it as the next step.

Customize the email/text message to your liking.
In the email text, you can choose to add variables from Rise.ai:

Trigger Explanation

gift_card_balance

The outstanding balance of a gift card

gift_card_code

The actual gift card code

greeting_message

The actual message the buyer has filled up in the gifting module (included also in the greeting card)

Setting Attentive emails live and disabling original Rise.ai emails

a. Setting Attentive emails live

  • When your Journey is fully configured, set the Journey status to Active by clicking the 'Turn on' button.

  • It’s recommended to test key scenarios to ensure content and personalization render as expected. To test, buy a test gift card from your site.

b. Disabling original Rise.ai emails

  • In your Rise dashboard, go to Notifications → Gift Cards.

  • Toggle off Gift Card received Emails.

Note: If you set up emails via Attentive only for specific cases (e.g., workflow rewards), you may keep other Rise emails (e.g., Refund to credit) live if you are not covering them in Attentive.
