In this article, you will learn:

How Nearby Address notifications work

Nearby Address notifications are location-based Push messages sent directly to your customers’ mobile devices when they’re near a specific address you’ve defined in the dashboard.

This feature is available only to merchants using the Mobile Pass, and notifications will be sent only to customers who have your store’s Mobile Pass set up on their device.

It’s a powerful way to increase in-store visits by prompting customers to take action, whether it’s redeeming their store credit or checking out an ongoing promotion, at the exact moment they’re nearby.

For example, you can send a message like “Come on in and use your credit!” when a customer with available credit walks past your store.

Please note:

  • Nearby Address notifications are available for both Store Credit and Gift Cards. Once the customer has added their Wallet or Gift Card to their Apple Wallet, a notification will be sent when they are near a location you’ve defined.

  • This feature is supported only on Apple Wallet and is not available on other wallet platforms. It requires an iPhone 8 or later, running iOS 6.0 or higher.

How to set up Nearby Address notifications

To create location-based push notifications, you’ll first need to enable the Mobile Pass on your store. This feature only works for customers who have added your store’s Mobile Pass to their device.

Learn how to set up Mobile Pass

Once Mobile Pass is active, follow these steps:

  1. In your Rise.ai Dashboard, go to Notifications.

  2. Click the Customer location tab.

  3. Find the Nearby address section and click Set Up.

  4. Once you click Set Up, a configuration window will open, allowing you to add addresses and set up notifications for each one.

From here, you’ll be able to define the address, write the notification message, preview how it looks, and manage up to 10 nearby address triggers.

After adding the location details, you can click the eye icon to preview how the notification will appear on the customer’s device when they pass near your store.

How to set up Nearby Beacon notifications

Nearby Beacon notifications use iBeacon technology to trigger messages when a customer is in very close proximity (for example, at a mall entrance or near your storefront).

To use this feature, Mobile Pass must be enabled on your store, as push notifications are only sent to customers who have added the pass to their device.

Learn how to set up Mobile Pass

Once Mobile Pass is active, follow these steps:

1. In the Customer location tab, find the Nearby beacon section and click Set Up.

2. Click + Add beacon details to enter your hardware information:

  • Beacon name: An internal name (e.g., "Main Entrance").

  • UUID: The unique identifier for your beacon.

  • Major & Minor: The specific ID numbers assigned to your beacon hardware.

3. Click Add.

4. In the "Message" field, enter the text you want customers to see (e.g., "Welcome! You’re nearby, use your store credit and enjoy your shopping").

5. Preview: Click the eye icon to see how the notification will look on a locked iPhone screen.

6. Save & Enable: Click Save, then ensure the Push suggestion toggle is turned ON

Please note: If both address-based notifications and beacon notifications are set for the same location, the address-based notification will be shown.
