Ideally, we recommend that you don't add existing presentations or learning resources into iQualify. Instead, we hope that, for the most part you're realising the benefits in rebuilding your resources as iQualify content.
But we get it, sometimes you just need an interim step because you don't have the resources right now to rebuild. So, in this article, we'll briefly cover a few approaches (each with their pros and cons) ordered in terms of what we'd recommend.
Rebuild as iQualify content (preferred, but takes a bit longer).
Embedding via Google (relatively quick, is accessible, preserves animations).
Upload as a pdf (or other file) (quick, but less handsome and less accessible for phones and tablets).
Upload slides to make a slideshow (medium time, resizes well, but not accessible for screen readers).
The benefits in rebuilding your resources as iQualify content
Of course there are a lot of advantages to rebuilding your presentation in iQualify.
It's accessible
it's responsive,
it's searchable,
it's trackable.
All the good things.
How to rebuild resources as iQualify content
As a very rough guideline, to rebuild your resource as iQualify content:
Create one page in your iQualify course per page/slide in your resource.
Copy-paste text into each page.
Be sure to paste as pain text
Upload any media into each page.
If you save the powerpoint as a webpage, it will extract all the images so you don't have to save them one-by-one. And if there are animations that are particularly important you can save those as videos or gifs.
How to embed presentations via Google slides
Upload your resource to Google drive.
Select File > Publish to the web > Embed.
Be sure to check your permissions and settings when you publish. On the Embed tab, copy everything in the highlighted box
In an iQualify content page, add Embed > Webpage > paste the embed code (we automatically extract the URL for you).
See How to embed a webpage into your course content for more detailed instructions.Save to see your embedded resource.
You can also embed a presentation or resource using other methods (Office365, slideshare etc.) we just find the Google slides method the easiest. If you'd like pointers on embedding in a specific way, reach out to us.
How to upload as a pdf or presentation file
Note: PDFs are typically best as they are a widely-accepted file type and most people shouldn't have too much trouble opening them (most browsers will open them if the person doesn't have Adobe reader installed).
In the file, Export/Save as pdf/ppt/?
In an iQualify course upload the file to Downloads.
In an iQualify content page, in a text box, choose File and insert the file.
Check out How to add a resource/download to your course for more detailed instructions.
How to add presentation slides to make an image slideshow
In the presentation Export/Save as images.
In the iQualify page, add Images/Slideshow.
Upload each slide as an image.
Unfortunately we can't reshuffle images once they're uploaded so you may need to add your slide-images one-by-one into the slideshow.
