The maths essay task type

In your course you may be given a maths task that requires you to type a response into a textbox. This task type is used when:

  • a combination of text and maths is required, or

  • you need to be able to input maths characters or formulae flexibly, such as in an equation, and

  • a facilitator or coach is able to manually mark the task.

In the example below, the maths essay task requires a written explanation that includes referencing some formulae:

The next example requires no written element but allows you to use the inbuilt maths editor to input maths characters, and to create equations:

How to add your response to the maths essay text box

In the text box you have the ability to add text formatting as well as input maths characters and equations. Click the sigma icon (Σ) to input maths characters or symbols, and the equation icon (√) to create formula and equations.
