The points system on Ithy is designed to reward active users and encourage engagement with the platform. Understanding how points work can help you maximize your benefits and progress through the reward tiers more efficiently.
Earning Points
The primary way to earn points on Ithy is by successfully generating articles.
Points per Article: For each article you generate, you will earn a minimum of 25 points.
Bonus Points for Complexity: The system is designed to reward more in-depth research. Harder or more complex questions that require more extensive processing by the AI models can earn you significantly more points – potentially ranging from 25 to over 1,000 points for a single article.
Notification of Points Earned: When your article is ready, the "Article Ready" popup or notification will typically display the number of points you've earned for that specific generation (e.g., "217 points").
Accumulation: These points accumulate over time in your user account.
Tracking Your Points and Rank
You can easily keep track of your current points and rank through your Account page. Upon signing in, your Account page provides a quick overview, including:
Current Points: A display such as "1666 Points" shows your total accumulated points.
Tier Level / Rank: Your current rank or tier level (e.g., "Silver 1") will also be visible.
How Points Are Calculated
Points are primarily earned through article generation, with several factors influencing the amount awarded:
Base Points: Every article earns a minimum of 25 points
Question Complexity: More challenging questions earn additional points
Length and Depth: More comprehensive articles typically earn more points
Uniqueness: Novel or unusual queries may receive bonus points
Consistency: Regular platform usage can influence point accumulation
The exact point calculation algorithm is proprietary, but you'll always see the points earned displayed in the "Article Ready" popup after generation completes.
Maximizing Your Points
To earn points more efficiently:
Ask substantive questions that require in-depth research
Use Deep Research mode when appropriate, as it may yield more comprehensive articles
Explore diverse topics rather than repeating similar questions
Use the platform regularly to maintain engagement
Complete your profile and account settings
Reward Tier Benefits
As you accumulate points, you'll progress through three reward tiers. All users begin at the Bronze Tier.
Bronze Tier (0-999 points)
Standard platform access
10 free responses per month
Input character limit of 1,000 characters
Access to the public Ithy Discord community
Silver Tier (1,000-9,999 points)
All Bronze benefits
Secret Silver rewards (revealed upon reaching this tier)
Gold Tier (10,000+ points)
All Silver benefits
Secret Gold rewards (revealed upon reaching this tier)
The "secret rewards" for each tier are intentionally not disclosed until you reach that tier, adding an element of discovery to the progression system.
Points vs. Pro Subscription
It's important to understand that the points system is separate from the Pro subscription:
Points determine your reward tier but don't directly increase your monthly usage limits
Pro subscription removes usage limits regardless of your point total
You can be a Gold tier user with a free account, or a Bronze tier user with a Pro subscription
The systems complement each other: Pro gives you unlimited usage, while points reward your engagement
For users seeking both maximum platform access and reward benefits, combining a Pro subscription with active engagement to earn points provides the optimal experience.
Progression and Notifications
Automatic Progression: As you earn points by generating articles, your tier will automatically update once you cross the threshold for the next rank.
Email Notifications: Ithy may send you email notifications when you achieve a new tier (e.g., upon reaching Silver or Gold), congratulating you and possibly detailing any new benefits you've unlocked.
Points never expire and don’t reset monthly. They persist for the life of your account.
Purpose of the Points and Ranks System:
Engagement: Encourages active use of the platform.
Reward: Provides tangible and intangible benefits for users who frequently utilize Ithy's services.
