Having an Ithy user account is key to unlocking many of the platform's valuable features, such as saving your article history, organizing content with folders, earning points and ranks, and customizing your experience.

This guide will walk you through the sign-up and sign-in processes, and how to manage your account details.

Why Create an Account?

While anonymous users can generate a limited number of articles (e.g., 10 per month with a 1,000 character input limit), creating a registered user account (even on the free tier) offers significant advantages:

  • Increased Usage Limits: Registered free users get more articles per month: up to 20 free articles.

  • Article History: All articles you generate while signed in are saved to your account, allowing you to easily access and revisit them later.

  • Folder Management: Organize your research by creating folders and adding articles to them.

  • Points and Ranks: Earn points for generating articles and progress through reward tiers.

  • Custom Settings: Save personalized preferences for Custom Instructions, visual elements in articles, and chat provider integration.

  • Path to Pro: Your registered account is the foundation for upgrading to an Ithy Pro subscription if you choose to.

Registration and Sign-In Methods

Ithy offers secure and convenient ways to create an account and sign in.

1. Email Authentication (Magic Link)

This method uses a secure, temporary link sent to your email address to verify your identity and sign you in.

  • How to Sign Up/Sign In:

    1. Navigate to the Ithy Sign In page: https://ithy.com/signin

    2. Enter your email address in the provided field.

    3. You may be asked to complete a Turnstile verification (a simple CAPTCHA-like challenge) to ensure you are a human user and not a bot.

    4. Click the "Send Magic Link" or similar button.

    5. Ithy will send a unique sign-in link to the email address you provided.

    6. Check your email inbox (and spam/junk folder, just in case).

    7. Click the link in the email. This link is typically valid for a limited time (e.g., 1 hour) for security reasons.

    8. Clicking the link will securely log you into your Ithy account. If it's your first time using that email address with Ithy, an account will be automatically created for you.

  • Security: This method is secure because only someone with access to your email account can click the unique link. Timed tokens add an extra layer of protection.

2. Google OAuth (Sign in with Google):

This method allows you to use your existing Google account for a quick and secure sign-in process (single sign-on).

  • How to Sign Up/Sign In:

    1. On the Ithy Sign In page, look for an option like "Sign in with Google" or a Google logo button.

    2. Click this option.

    3. You will be redirected to Google's secure authentication page. If you're not already signed into Google in your browser, you'll be prompted to enter your Google credentials.

    4. Google will ask you to authorize Ithy to access certain basic information from your Google profile (usually just your email address and name for account creation). Review the permissions and grant access if you agree.

    5. Once authorized, you will be redirected back to Ithy and automatically signed into your account. If it's your first time using this Google account with Ithy, a new Ithy account will be created and linked.

  • Security and Convenience: Google OAuth is a widely trusted and secure authentication standard. It saves you from having to create and remember a new password specifically for Ithy.

Managing Your Account on the Account Page

Once you are signed in, your Account page (https://ithy.com/account) becomes your central hub for managing various aspects of your Ithy profile and experience. Here's what you can find and manage:

  • Registered Email Address: Displays the email address associated with your account.

  • Subscription Status: Clearly indicates whether you are on the Free Tier or an Ithy Pro subscriber. If Pro, it might also show if your subscription is active or when it's set to expire if you've cancelled it.

  • Article History: A chronological list of all articles you've generated while signed in. Each entry shows the beginning of your question/prompt and provides a link to the full article.

  • Usage Statistics:

    • Remaining Responses/Articles: Shows how many articles you have left for the current month based on your plan (e.g., "5 out of 20 responses remaining").

    • Limit Reset Timer: Indicates when your monthly usage limits will reset (e.g., "Limits reset in 14 days 8 hours").

  • Points and Tier System:

    • Displays your current accumulated points (e.g., "1666 Points").

    • Shows your current tier level (e.g., "Bronze 1," "Silver 2").

  • Folder Management: Access tools to create, rename, delete, and manage your article folders.

  • Custom Prompt & Settings: Configure your default Custom Instructions, select your preferred Chat Provider, and manage toggles for Visual Elements in your articles.

  • Subscription Options/Management:

    • If you are a Free user, you'll find options or links here to "Upgrade to Pro" or learn more about subscription plans.

    • If you are an Ithy Pro subscriber, this section will provide a link to the Stripe Customer Portal where you can manage your payment details, view invoices, or cancel your subscription.

Signing Out

To sign out of your Ithy account:

  • Look for a "Sign Out" link. This is found on your Account page next to your email.

  • Clicking "Sign Out" will clear your current session from the browser you are using. You will need to sign in again to access your account-specific features.

Your Ithy account is kept active in your browser using a secure cookie. This allows you to stay signed in between visits unless you explicitly sign out or clear your browser cookies.
