What Will We Learn Here?

A Matching campaign is a powerful fundraising tool: for every dollar donated by the public, a major donor (the "Matcher") adds an identical or double amount. In this guide, we'll learn how to turn a regular campaign into a matching campaign and how to define exactly when the doubling stops.

Before We Start

Make sure you have:

  • An existing campaign in the system (Matching is a "layer" added to an existing campaign).

  • A Matcher donor who has committed to a matching amount.

  • A document signed by the organization's CEO (explained at the end of the guide).

Steps

1. Accessing Campaign Settings

  1. Enter the "Fundraising" (or "My Campaigns") tab in the organization's personal area.

  2. Click the "Edit" button (pencil icon) next to the desired campaign.

  3. Go to page number 2 of the editing process (Campaign Details).

2. Activating the "Matching Switch"

Scroll down until you see the "Matching Campaign" title.

  1. Click the purple switch to enable the option.

  2. In the field "The sum will be multiplied by *", enter the multiplication ratio.

    • Enter 2 for a "Dollar for Dollar" mode (every donation is multiplied by 2).

    • Enter 3 if the Matcher gives two dollars for every donor's dollar (multiplied by 3).

3. Setting Limits (When Does It Stop?)

To control the matching amount, the system allows you to set "Stop Signs." You can use one or both:

  • Stop by Amount:

    1. Check the box "Set maximum amount for matching".

    2. Enter the maximum amount the Matcher is willing to give (e.g., 10,000). When the campaign reaches this amount – the doubling will stop.

  • Stop by Time:

    1. Check the box "Choose date and time to stop matching".

    2. Select the exact date and time on the calendar when the operation will end.

4. Sending CEO Approval (Mandatory!)

Set everything up in the system? Great. Now you just need to get the "Green Light" from us.

  1. Prepare a document detailing the amount you received (or will receive) from the multiplying donor.

  2. Have the Organization's CEO sign the document.

  3. Send the document to support: support@jgive.com.

    • In the email subject line write: "Approval for Matching Campaign" + Organization Name and Number.

⚠️ Important: The Matching campaign will not go live until we receive and approve this document.

Summary

Activating matching is simple: go to page 2 in campaign editing, turn on the purple switch, set the ratio (e.g., x2), and define when it ends (by amount or date). Afterward, send the CEO approval to support and wait for final confirmation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What happens if I defined both a maximum amount and an end date? A: The matching will stop as soon as the first condition is met. If you reached the target amount before the date – the doubling stops. If the date arrived and you haven't raised the full amount – the doubling stops.

Q: Does the campaign close when the matching ends? A: No. The campaign remains live and open for regular donations. Only the "bonus" doubling and the special matching graphics are removed from the page.

Q: Can I change the maximum amount while the campaign is running? A: Yes. If the Matcher decides to increase the donation, you can enter editing again and update the amount in the "Set maximum amount" field.
