Why Does My Donation Appear Doubled? (Matching Campaign)

Matching campaign, Double donation, Wrong charge

Updated over a week ago

Did you donate a certain amount, but see double that figure in the "Recent Donations" list on the site? Don't panic! You were not charged twice. In this guide, we will explain what a "Matching Campaign" is and why your donation appears to be worth more on the website than what you see on your bank statement.

So, What Happened?

The campaign you donated to is set up as a Matching Campaign. In this type of campaign, a major donor or organization has pledged to match every dollar/shekel donated by the public.

  • What you see on the site: The total impact (Your donation + The matching donor's contribution).

  • What you are charged: Only the original amount you chose to donate.

How to Identify a Matching Campaign?

You can see indications of this during the donation process itself. In the payment box, after selecting your donation amount, the system often displays a message indicating the multiplier effect (e.g., "Your donation will turn into...").

Summary

If you see a doubled amount on the site, it’s good news—your impact has just been doubled! Your credit card or bank account will be charged only for the original amount you entered
