How to use Jiko's Customer API

This guide provides an overview that explains how to leverage Jiko’s Customer API, focusing on the core workflows that allow clients to successfully deploy Jiko’s technology.

There are just a few steps to integrating with Jiko’s Customer API:

  1. Fund accounts: Obtain routing/account numbers for funding and inquire on balances.

  2. Implement payments: Set up JikoNet for real-time transfers or Wires/SWIFT for external payments.

  3. Configure webhooks: Enable real-time status updates for automated workflows.

  4. Automate reconciliation: Integrate bank statements and trade history into your accounting systems.

  5. User and access governance: Manage permissions with role-based access and security auditing.

Step by step guide

  1. Funding accounts

To begin, your system must fund accounts and monitor account balances:

    • Account number: To receive funds, you must retrieve the account number and routing number required for funding via ACH and both domestic U.S. and international wires (including SWIFT details).

    • Balance inquiry: To monitor real-time balances and select which account to pay from.

  2. Executing payments

Jiko provides access to multiple payment rails via a single API integration:

    • JikoNet: For the highest efficiency, JikoNet allows for 24/7 secure real-time settlement directly between Jiko customers.

    • Traditional rails: The API also fully supports US domestic and international wires

    • Approval workflow: Submitted transfer requests will enter an UNDER_REVIEW status and your integration will include an approval step, for users with a “Checker” role to approve or reject the request via the API or UI.

    • Beneficiary maintenance: Create and deactivate beneficiary accounts.

  3. Real-time observability and webhooks

Jiko uses webhook-based notifications in addition to inquiry endpoints for payment status:

    • Event subscriptions: You can subscribe to specific events, such as when a payment is processing, successful, or rejected for both incoming and outgoing payments.

    • Automation: Using webhooks allows your system to automatically trigger downstream workflows, such as updating the payment status in origination systems, notifying a beneficiary, or reconciling a trade.

  4. Reporting and reconciliation

Jiko offers reports and exports detailing the funds under its management and the associated underlying T-bill trades:

    • Bank statements: Provide a record of all bank transactions in ISO 20022 camt.053 format.

    • Brokerage statements: Provide the value of holdings in ISO 20022 camt.053 format, including the change in value resulting from deposits, withdrawals, T-bill gains/losses and fees.

    • Trade exports: Individual transactions related to T-bill purchases, sales, and maturities can be exported for direct integration into your treasury management and accounting systems. As well as, if needed, T-bill market prices.

  5. User and access governance

The API provides robust tools for managing permissions within your organization:

    • Role-based access: You can programmatically invite users and assign roles such as Viewer, Maker, Checker or Administrator.

    • Security auditing: To maintain compliance, the API allows you to retrieve chronological audit logs of user events, including login activity and data modifications, complete with IP addresses and user agent metadata.
