Summary
On this page, you will select the habitat type of your intended works. You can either select from our pre-selected list, or you can use our simple interface to, first select the broad habitat type and then click on the more specific habitat type.
Detailed Guidance
When you come to this page you will see a short list of suggested habitat parcels. These are the most likely to be used for any intended works:
So, for example, if you are planning to draw in an intended building, you would select Developed land; sealed surface. Once you have selected the right habitat parcel, scroll down and press Continue.
If you can't see the right habitat type in the list, then simply scroll down, and enter in the habitat in the same way as when setting out the baseline habitats.
Step One
If you can't see the right description of your habitat parcel then you can scroll down and select the right broad habitat parcel. please note that this is not the actual habitat parcel; you are simply letting us know what the broad type is. You can simply click on the habitat type that best describes the parcel on your site (e.g. grassland if there is a lot of grass on the site or cropland). Don't worry if you can't see your habitat type, just click on the one that looks the most likely and - if you can't see the right habitat type, you can click the small back arrow that will appear above the pictures.
Step Two
Once you have selected a broad habitat type, you will be taken to a page with more granular habitat types. This is a more detailed description. Please click on a habitat parcel to select it (it will be highlighted yellow), and you will see a description appear at the bottom of the page. Once you are satisfied that you have the right habitat parcel, press continue.
