The following is a short summary of the habitat type and how to create/enhance it to a "good" condition. For an informed position, please refer to official up-to-date UKHAB documentation or the UK Government's Condition Assessment Sheet.

Description: Structures or sites where the soil surface is sealed with impervious materials (for example, concrete, steel or wood) as a result of urban development and infrastructure construction. Use for buildings, roads, concrete and pavements.

If you wish to select this habitat on a habitat selection screen, it can be found under Urban (see guide).

This includes surfaces sealed with concrete, steel, wood, asphalt, and other non-porous materials, typically found in urban and suburban environments. Includes buildings and roads. A building is a relatively permanent enclosed construction over a plot of land. It has a roof, usually windows and often more than one level, and it is used for any of a wide variety of activities, such as living, entertaining or manufacturing. Buildings with green roofs are included in this definition.
