We're excited to bring you an expanded reporting experience. If you don't see the reporting features described below, don't worry—this updated reporting experience will become available to your account over time.
Overview
The Business summary dashboard gives you a high-level view of business performance across revenue, appointments, client retention, utilization, and sales activity.
Use this dashboard to compare results against previous periods and filter by date, location, or staff member to identify trends, spot changes, and understand what is driving overall business performance at a glance.
What this dashboard is best used for
Understand when and why to use this dashboard through common use cases, descriptions, and example questions it can help answer in your day-to-day operations.

|
Revenue composition check | Break Net amount down by what you sell (Services, Retail Products, Memberships, Packages, Gift Cards, Account Credits) to see where revenue comes from. |
|
New vs returning client tracking | Watch the returning client rate alongside the New, Returning, and Total client counts to gauge retention and new-client acquisition. |
|
Booking and cancellation monitoring | Track total, pre-booked, and cancelled appointments to understand booking momentum and cancellation pressure. |
|
Capacity and utilization review | Read utilization with booked, open, and working hours to see whether staffed time is being filled. |
|
Retail attachment performance | Use average retail sales and the retail-to-service rate to see how well retail is attached to service visits. |
|
Period-over-period trend spotting | Use Compare To and each widget's change pill to identify what moved against the prior period. |

Permissions & Dashboard Visibility
Permissions & Dashboard Visibility
Access to the Business Summary dashboard depends on which Data & Reporting permissions are enabled for your account. Different widgets are controlled by different permissions, so you may see some widgets but not others depending on your role.
Appointments Reporting > Appointments: enables the Appointments widget.
Client Reporting > Client Insights: enables the Returning Client Rate widget.
Financials Reporting > Sales: enables the Net Amount, Avg. Service Sales, Avg. Retail Sales, and Retail to Service Rate widgets.
Staff Operations Reporting > Performance & Pay: enables the Utilization widget.
Users missing the required Reporting permissions will see limited or missing data on affected widgets, as shown in the example below
See Reporting Permissions for more information.
Note: Some permissions can be set to show data for Everyone (business-wide data) or Self (individual data only). If you see a self-only banner on a widget, that indicates it's showing only your numbers. Contact your account admin for questions about your access.
Dashboard Settings
Dashboard Settings
Use the filters at the top of the dashboard to adjust what data is shown. Click Apply after making any changes to refresh the dashboard.
Date range: Sets the time period you want to review. Default setting: Last Week.
Note that each widget uses the most relevant date for its data: the sale date for sales and client widgets, the appointment date for the Appointments widgets, and the schedule date for the Utilization widget.
Date granularity: Sets how the over-time charts group dates — by day, week, or month. This changes the chart view only and does not affect the totals shown on any widget.
As a rule of thumb: use Day for ranges up to about a month, Week for one to two months, and Month for anything longer.
Compare to: Sets what the current period is measured against. Default setting: Previous period.
Options are Previous period (the same length of time immediately before) and Previous year (the same date range in the prior year). This drives the change shown on every widget.
Location: Filter results to one or more of your business locations. Default setting: All locations.
Staff: Filter results to a single staff member's sales, appointments, and schedule. Default setting: All staff.
Using the Business Summary Dashboard
Select the Reports tab to access the Business Summary Dashboard. Once opened, you'll see configuration settings and filters at the top, and below those, eight widgets arranged in a grid.
Below is a quick overview of each widget on the dashboard:
Net Amount: Your total sales for the period, broken down by what was sold.
Net Amount Over Time: The same Net Amount figure displayed as a chart, so you can see how sales moved across the period.
Returning Client Rate: The percentage of clients seen in the period who had visited before.
Appointments: The total number of appointments in the period, including pre-booked and cancelled.
Utilization: How much of your staff's available working time was booked with appointments.
Avg. Service Sales: The average revenue from services per order.
Avg. Retail Sales: The average revenue from retail products per order.
Retail to Service Rate: The proportion of retail sales relative to service sales.
Click the > icon in the corner of any widget to access the data source report. Review the individual widget sections below to identify the source report for each widget.
Understanding the Dashboard Widgets
Note: Some widgets may show a "self-only" banner, which means you're seeing only your own data, even if you have access to business-wide data on other widgets. The banner is there so you don't accidentally compare your individual numbers against business-wide totals shown nearby.
Each widget shows a headline number for the period, with a breakdown of the details below it.
When comparing two periods, each widget displays a change pill showing the percentage difference between them—green for improvements, red for declines. If the comparison period had very little activity, this percentage may look unusually large.
In bar charts, the current and comparison periods are displayed in separate colors (gray and black), allowing you to visually assess changes over time. Hover over any bar or data point to view detailed values for the corresponding date, week, or month.
Net Amount
Net amount sources data from your Daily Summary report, and shows your total sales for the selected period, after discounts and refunds are applied. It covers everything you sell — services, retail products, memberships, packages, gift cards, and account credits. Sales tax, fees, tips, and balance adjustments are not included.
The number at the top is your grand total. Below it, you'll see how that total breaks down by what was sold:
Account credit: Sales from account credit activity
Gift cards: Sales from new gift card purchases
Membership (New): Sales from new client membership sign ups
Membership (Recurring): Sales from existing client membership renewals
Packages: Sales from packages
Prepaid products: Sales from prepaid product units
Products: Sales from retail products
Services: Sales from services
Important Notes:
Net amount does not include sales tax, tips, or fees.
Net amount does include both the sale and later redemption of items like gift cards and memberships. Totals may appear higher than the cash your business actually collected for the period.
Net amount totals in your source reports may differ from the values shown in the dashboard. Reports include gratuity and balance adjustments (gift card and account credit corrections), which are excluded from the Business summary dashboard calculation.
Net Amount Over Time
Net Amount Over Time sources data from your Daily Summary report, and shows net sales across your selected timeframe. This widget helps you spot revenue trends and compare performance between periods.
The same calculations from Net Amount apply here — discounts and refunds are removed, and sales tax, fees, and tips are not included.
Returning Client Rate
Returning Client Rate sources data from your Client Sales report, and shows the percentage of clients seen in the period who had visited your business at least once before.
Below the headline percentage, you'll also see:
New: The number of clients visiting your business for the first time.
Returning: The number of clients who had visited before.
Total: The total number of unique clients seen in the period.
Appointments
Appointments sources data from your Appointments report, and shows the total number of appointments in the selected period, regardless of status.
Below the headline total, you'll also see:
Pre-booked: Appointments that were booked during a previous visit, before the client left. A useful signal of how well clients are rebooking on their way out.
Cancelled: Appointments that were cancelled in the period.
Because all appointment statuses are included in the headline total, this figure reflects overall booking activity, rather than completed service volume alone.
Utilization
Utilization sources data from your Staff Performance report, and shows how much of your staff's available working time was filled with appointments during the selected period. Business-blocked time is excluded from the calculation.
Below the headline percentage, you'll also see:
Booked hours: The total hours staff spent with client appointments.
Open hours: Scheduled hours that were available but not booked.
Working hours: The total hours staff were scheduled to work, including any blocked time within their shifts.
Higher utilization indicates more efficient use of staff availability. For example, if a staff member has 40 working hours and 5 blocked hours, utilization is calculated using the remaining 35 available hours.
Avg. Service Sales
Average service sales sources data from your Service Sales report, and shows the average service revenue generated per order during the selected period. This metric helps you evaluate pricing, upselling, and service mix performance.
Avg. Retail Sales
Average retail sales sources data from your Retail Sales report, and shows the average retail revenue generated per order during the selected period. This metric helps measure retail attachment and product sales performance.
Retail to Service Rate
Retail to service rate sources data from your Daily Summary report, and shows the proportion of retail sales relative to service sales. A higher percentage indicates stronger retail performance compared to service revenue. This metric is commonly used to track retail attachment rates and overall retail contribution to revenue.
