We're excited to bring you an expanded reporting experience. If you don't see every report or permission category described below, don't worry—new reports are being released in phases and will become available to your account over time.
Overview
Boulevard has updated reporting permissions to give Admins more control over what data staff members can access.
Once the new reporting experience goes live, everyone who currently has reporting access will automatically see it on their dashboard. Admins can then fine-tune reporting permissions to control exactly what each staff member can view within each category, and whether they can access all staff data or just their own.
The new reporting permissions only apply to the new experience. Changing these permissions will not affect how staff can access the old reports and summaries.
Data & Reporting Permissions
To manage reporting permissions, go to Business Settings > Permission Groups, then select the permission group you want to edit. All reporting-related permissions are located in the Data & Reporting section.
Reporting Management
The Reporting Management permission is required for staff to access reporting.
When this permission is disabled, staff:
Cannot access the Reports tab in the Dashboard.
Cannot view reporting data.
Cannot view performance metrics in the Professional app.
When this permission is enabled, Admins can grant additional reporting permissions to further control what staff can do:
Export Reports: allows staff to download reports they have permission to view.
Access Mobile Reports: allows staff to view individual performance metrics in the Professional app.
Publish views: allows staff to publish a saved report configuration as a Business View, making it visible in the Views tab to everyone else with access to that report. Without this permission, staff can still save Private views for themselves, but can't publish one business-wide.
Note: Mobile reporting is still based on the legacy permissions and remains an all-or-nothing setting — team members either have full access to mobile reports or none at all, regardless of how their category reporting permissions (Financials, Staff Operations, Client, Catalog, Appointments, Marketing) are configured.
Report visibility
After staff have access to reporting, the reports they can view are determined by both their assigned locations and their report category permissions.
Staff can only view reporting data for the locations assigned to their staff profile. In addition, admins can choose which report categories each permission group can access. If a staff member is not granted access to a report category, that category will not appear in their Reports list.
Dashboard visibility
Dashboard data follows the same permission model as reports.
The Business summary and Sales summary dashboards display data from a number of specific reports. If a staff member has access to the underlying report, the corresponding dashboard data will be visible. If they do not have access, the related dashboard widget will not display data, and include a message explaining the restriction.
How Existing Permissions Map to the New Experience
Your existing reporting permission settings will be migrated into the new permissions automatically. The table below explains how each legacy configuration maps to what staff will see in the new experience.
Note: These translations happen automatically — admins don't need to manually reconfigure permissions for existing users. To review permissions and what your staff will have access to after migration, check their Permission Group settings.
Original Permission State | What Carries Over to New Experience |
No reporting permissions enabled | No access. All permissions set to off. The Reports tab will not be visible. |
View Reports enabled (all or assigned locations), Commission Reports not enabled | Full reporting access enabled, except Commission Reports Users will have access to:
|
Commission Reports enabled only (View Reports not enabled) | No access. All permissions set to off. Because the Reports tab wasn't previously accessible without View Reports, this state is treated the same as no permissions. |
Both View Reports and Commission Reports enabled | Full reporting access enabled across all domains and topics, including Performance & Pay. |
Mobile App Reports enabled | Mobile reporting access enabled. All users who previously had access to mobile reporting will retain that same visibility. |
