Why didn’t I receive a referral bonus?

The common cause of missing referrals is the referred person having an existing SoFi account

Referral Bonus Eligibility

This article explains the most common reasons why you or your friend may not have received a referral bonus when linking or opening a SoFi account.

How the Referral Program Works

To qualify for a referral bonus:

  1. If the person you referred is matched with SoFi, the referred person needs to be a new SoFi customer without an existing account.

  2. The referred person must open their account by following the unique referral link shared by the referrer.

  3. The referred person must link it to their Debbie account

If these criteria are not met, the referral will not qualify for a bonus.

Common Issues with Referral Bonus Eligibility

  • The referred person already has a SoFi account: - Bonus eligibility is restricted to new customers. If the referred person already has an active or previously existing SoFi account, they are not considered eligible for the referral bonus.

  • Existing user linking their account: - If an individual links their account but already has a SoFi account, the referral is void. The referral bonus only applies to new accounts created via the referral link.

  • Using a referral link as an existing customer: - If you are an existing SoFi customer and use someone else’s referral link, the referrer will not receive a bonus because you are not considered a qualifying new customer.

Tips for Ensuring Referral Bonuses

  • Always confirm that the referred person is eligible by verifying they do not have an existing SoFi account.

  • Ensure the referred person completes the account signup through the referrer’s unique link.
