How it Works

GLP-1 (Glucagon-like peptide-1) medications work by regulating appetite to reduce food intake. Studies have demonstrated their potential to achieve weight reductions of up to 15% in individuals who take them for a year or longer, in conjunction with healthy lifestyle choices*.

Weight loss is not solely reliant on willpower, as biological factors affecting metabolism, hunger, and weight can be beyond your control.

GLP-1s promote a prolonged feeling of fullness, help control food cravings, and enhance the body’s ability to process sugars more efficiently. Consequently, these medications are often prescribed for managing type 2 diabetes or obesity.

In chronic weight management, GLP-1 medications are sometimes utilized alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity. They are also employed in patients with diabetes to assist in blood sugar management.

Compounded vs Branded

Branded GLP-1 medications are the original formulations developed and marketed by pharmaceutical companies. Compounded GLP-1 refers to generic versions of GLP-1 medications. These are produced by various pharmaceutical companies and are usually more affordable than their branded counterparts. Additionally insurance may cover branded medications depending on the insurance plan, but compounds are strictly cash pay and are not covered by insurance.

NOTE: Compounded medications are shipped directly to your address from one of our compound pharmacy partners. In the case of branded medication, patients are responsible for pickup and payment at their local pharmacy.
