Creating a contract

Create contracts using your templates, or by uploading preexisting documents into Juro.

Written by Jimmy Mooring

There are three ways to create contracts in Juro. You can:

  • create them from a template you’ve created or uploaded to Juro;

  • upload a Word or PDF file into Juro, or

  • build them from scratch using Juro's browser-native contract editor

Creating a contract from a template

Using a template as your starting point is the quickest and easiest way to approach your contract creation processes.

To create a contract from a template:

1. On your Documents page, click + Create new document.

2. Select your template and click Continue.

Not seeing your template in the list? Ensure that the template is published.

If relevant, fill out any pre-assigned Form flow questions from the template to generate the draft contract.

Once you're in the contract, you can update smartfields further if needed. These will serve as the data entry points that you can drag and drop directly onto your contract editor.

Alternatively, to create a contract without using the features of an existing template, at the Select template stage, select Skip.

Following the step-by-step guide

When you create a contract from one of your templates, a step tracker appears at the top of the editor showing where the contract is in its journey and what to do next: Confirm Details, Request Approval, Add Signatories, and Send for Signature.

  • The bar highlights the next action at each stage.

  • Actions like Send to approvers and Send to signatories disable once they have been used (a tooltip shows when), so you cannot send the same request twice by accident.

  • Once the contract is fully signed, the step tracker disappears.

Uploading a third-party file against an existing template

To upload a document as the starting point for your contract:

1. On your Documents page, click Upload.

2. Drag and drop the document into the upload portal, or click select from your computer to select it from your desktop.

3. Select the template you'd like to upload the file against and click Continue.

Not seeing your template in the list? Ensure that the template is published.

The file you've selected will replace the document body from your template, and all smartfields, signatories, approvers, etc., will carry over for use in the generated contract.

Alternatively, to upload a document without using the features of an existing template, at the Select document type stage, select Skip.
