How do I buy a Kernel subscription plan?

Kernel has three subscription plans each designed for a specific investor type.

If you open an account with Kernel you are automatically on the Core plan, it is free and provides access to Kernel Funds, KiwiSaver, and Savings as well as a 1.50% FX fee on US Shares and ETFs.

Step 1: Log in to your Kernel account and go to the Plan and billing page in your account settings.

Step 2: Upgrade your plan to Plus or Premium.

  • The default plan is Core which is free

  • Click Upgrade if you’d like to move to Plus or Premium

Step 3: Select and activate your new plan

  • Choose your desired subscription plan type and billing frequency (monthly or yearly), and

  • Confirm payment details. Credit cards accepted only.

Your new plan and billing frequency take effect immediately after you confirm the plan.

How do I change my subscription plan?

Step 1: Log in to your Kernel account and go to the Plan and billing page in your account settings.

Step 2: Cancel your current plan by clicking Cancel plan.

Step 3: Upgrade your plan to Plus or Premium

  • The default plan is Core which is free

  • After the cancellation completes, click Upgrade if you’d like to move to Plus or Premium

  • Click on your desired subscription plan type and billing frequency (monthly or yearly)

  • Confirm payment details. Credit cards accepted only.

Your new plan and billing frequency take effect immediately after you Confirm and upgrade.

How do I cancel my subscription plan?

Step 1: Log in to your Kernel account and go to the Plan and billing page in your account settings.

Step 2: Cancel your current plan by clicking Cancel plan.

After cancelling, your plan does not immediately downgrade if you still have paid time remaining. Instead, your account will continue on the current paid plan until the end of the billing period. You’ll see a label such as “Expires on: [date]” indicating when the plan will end.

Once that date is reached, your plan will automatically move to Core (free).
