What is 2FA?
2FA (Two Factor Authentification) or multi-factor authentication is an extra layer of security used to make sure that people trying to gain access to an online account are who they say they are.
Does Kernel Offer 2FA
Yes, we currently offer 2FA through the form of Two Factor Authentification Apps.
How 2FA works
Once enabled, you will need to enter both your password and a code from an authentication app every time you log in to Kernel. 2FA makes it harder for anyone else to get into your Kernel account.
The set-up process
First login to your account and navigate to Profile & Settings. To activate 2FA on your account you will first need to verify your email address.
Navigate to Profile & Settings > Security > 2FA and enter your password.
Download an authentication app
Verification codes can be generated from a range of apps. We recommend cloud-based apps such as Google Authenticator, Authy, LastPass Authenticator, or Microsoft Authenticator.
Scan the QR code with your authentication app
Open your authentication app on your phone and scan the QR code presented. If you're on mobile or can’t scan, you can enter your secret key instead.
Enter the verification code
Once you have scanned the QR code you can enter the six-digit verification code generated by your authentication app.
Confirmation. The final page in the setup process will confirm that you have successfully activated 2FA.
Once you’ve set up 2FA, you’ll need to have access to your authenticator app when logging into your Kernel Account. If you lose your device or delete the authenticator app reach out to our support team at support@kernelwealth.co.nz
You can turn off 2FA by navigating to Profile & Settings > Security and entering your password.
