Kickbooster now gives you the flexibility to determine which products or collections in your Shopify store are eligible for affiliate commissions. This feature allows you to choose from:

  • All Products: Every product in your store qualifies.

  • Select Products: Only specific products that you choose qualify.

  • Select Collections: Entire collections (groups of products) that you choose qualify.

In this article, we’ll explain how these settings work, the benefits of using them, and how these settings interact with discount codes used for tracking referrals.

  • Targeted Promotions: You can focus your affiliate efforts on high-margin, new, or seasonal products.

  • Custom Incentives: Adjust commissions and rewards based on strategic goals. For example, you might choose to incentivize affiliates to promote premium products or collections that drive higher profits.

  • Streamlined Management: Easily update and modify eligible items as your product lineup or marketing strategies change.

Options Available

  1. All Products

    Use this option if you want every item in your store to earn commissions through affiliate referrals.

  2. Select Products

    Choose this option if you want to reward affiliates only for specific products. When you select this option, you’ll be prompted to pick which individual products from your Shopify store should be eligible.

  3. Select Collections

    Choose entire collections if you’d rather manage eligibility by grouping related products. When this option is selected, you’ll be prompted to select which collections to include.

How to Select Eligible Products

  1. Program Settings:

    • If you're updating an existing program, go to the Program's Settings. Otherwise, for new program setup, go to next step.

  2. Navigate to Attributions > then go to Product Eligibility

    • You will see the three options:

      • All Products

      • Select Products

      • Select Collections

  3. Make Your Selection:

    • If you choose Select Products or Select Collections, you will be prompted to pick the specific items or collections from your Shopify store that you want to make eligible.

  4. Finalizing Setup:

    • If you’re editing your eligible products for an existing program, click Save.

    • If you're configuring a new program, click Next to finish the setup process. Your selected eligible products will be enabled once you launch your program.

How Tracking Works with Eligible Products

Referral Link Tracking

  • Click and Purchase:
    When an affiliate’s referral link is clicked, tracking begins. An affiliate will only earn commissions if an eligible item is purchased during the session.

  • Commission Earned:
    If an order contains at least one eligible item, the affiliate earns commissions on the subtotal of the entire order, even if it includes ineligible items.

Discount Code Tracking

If you're also using discount codes to track referrals, your product eligibility settings will apply to your affiliate discount codes as well.

  • Discount Application:
    If a customer uses an affiliate’s discount code at checkout (with the referral link clicked), the discount will only apply to eligible items in the cart.

  • Commission Earned:
    Despite the discount being limited to eligible items, the affiliate earns commissions based on the subtotal of the entire order.

How Affiliates are Notified

When you update the list of eligible products for your referral program, affiliates are promptly informed through two primary channels:

  1. Affiliate Dashboard Updates

    • Affiliates will see a dashboard notice that the offer applies only to eligible products. If specific products are chosen, the list will be displayed.

  2. Email Notifications

    • Immediate Alerts: Affiliates will receive an email notification whenever there's a change in the eligible products. This notification serves as an immediate alert to review the changes.

These notifications work together to ensure that affiliates are always informed about program changes, enabling them to optimize their strategies and maximize their earnings.
