Introduction: When using Zoom, several potential errors can prevent successful recording. To troubleshoot these issues, refer to the list below:

1. Host Using the Web Client

  • Issue: Zoom web client doesn't support prompting for local recording permission.

  • Solution: Use Zoom Desktop app or Zoom OAuth integration.

2. Host Not Present

  • Issue: Bot can't record if the host isn't present to grant permissions.

  • Solution: Ensure the host is present or use Zoom OAuth integration for automated permissions.

3. Host's Local Recording Setting Disabled

  • Issue: Bot fails to record if global local recording is disabled.

  • Solution: Enable global local recording setting in Zoom user settings.

4. Host Disabled Participant Recording Permission

  • Issue: Bot can't record if host doesn't permit participants to record locally.

  • Solution: Host should enable the setting to allow participants to record locally.

5. Host Disabled Recording Permission Requests Within Call

  • Issue: Bot can't record if host disables recording requests within the call.

  • Solution: Host should enable the setting to allow recording requests during the call.

6. Zoom Internal Error

  • Issue: Bot fails due to internal Zoom errors.

  • Solution: Report recurring issues to support for escalation to Zoom.

7. Host Never Received Recording Consent Popup

  • Issue: No recording consent popup; bot can't record.

  • Solution: Ensure hosts join meetings with the same Zoom account used to create them or set alternative hosts.
