The Child Interview is your child’s part of the Kidaro process. It takes about 25 minutes and combines a guided conversation with short, game-based activities.
The experience is designed to feel like conversation and play, not a test. Your child interacts with an age-appropriate Kidaro guide and does not need to prepare anything in advance.
How Does the Child Interview Begin?
After you complete the Parent Interview, the screen will show “Your child’s turn to share.” At this point, hand the device to your child.
The progress bar will show 50%, which means your portion is complete and the Child Interview is ready to begin.
Before starting:
Stay in the same quiet room.
Help your child if needed, but let them answer on their own.
Make sure only one person speaks at a time.
Your child will see a short message explaining that they will answer some questions and play a few games. They will also be reminded that there are no right or wrong answers and that they should simply be themselves.
What Will My Child Do?
Your child will interact with the Kidaro guide through playful prompts, questions, and short activities.
Some activities may feel like simple games. For example, your child may move through a themed setting, follow directions, or use buttons such as Help, Back, or Map.
These activities help Kidaro notice how your child approaches instructions, choices, feedback, and changes in difficulty. The focus is on how your child engages with the experience, not whether they get everything “right.”
Should I Help My Child?
Stay nearby in case your child needs help using the device or understanding what to do.
Try not to suggest answers or answer for them. Kidaro needs your child’s own responses to create a Learning Profile that reflects both your perspective and theirs.
What If a Game Ends on Its Own?
Some games run for a set amount of time and may end automatically. This is normal and does not mean the app has stopped working.
Your child can continue by following the next prompt from the Kidaro guide.
What Happens When It Is Finished?
Kidaro combines the Parent Interview and Child Interview to create your child’s Learning Profile.
The Learning Profile brings both perspectives together across 12 dimensions and turns the patterns into practical guidance for home and school. It is not a grade, label, or diagnosis.
