What is the Retake Submissions feature?

Kognity now allows students to retake submissions on Content-Pages, including:

  • Activity Sheets (ATS)

  • Performance Tasks (PT)

When a student retakes a submission:

  • A new attempt is created

  • All previous answers remain saved

  • Teachers can view every attempt

  • Students can track their improvement

This supports mastery-based learning while maintaining full visibility for teachers.

Student Experience

  1. Students submit their work
After completing the Activity Sheet or Performance Task, the student submits their responses.

After submitting, students see a confirmation banner and the Take again option.

  2. Student clicks “Take again”
After submitting, students see a confirmation banner and the Take again option.

    Start a new attempt?

Students must confirm before starting a new attempt. The new submission will begin with blank answers.

    This ensures:

    • Previous attempts are not deleted

    • Students clearly understand they are starting a new submission

  3. A new attempt is created

    Once confirmed:

    • A new submission attempt is generated

    • All answers are cleared

    • The student completes and submits again

Each submission is saved as a separate attempt.

  4. Students can view all attempts

Students can access their attempts under “Your submissions”.

Students can switch between attempts using the attempt selector.

For Performance Tasks, students can also view:

  • Marks per question

  • Total score per attempt

This allows students to clearly see their progress over time.

Teacher Experience

Teachers have full visibility of all student attempts.

The retake workflow integrates directly into the existing grading interface (same structure as Performance Tasks grading ).
