Hashtag Guidelines
When creating hashtags, there are a few limitations and recommendations:
While there is no limit to how many characters a hashtag can have, it's recommended to use less than 20.
Hashtags cannot contain any spaces when being created. For example, the hashtag will need to look like #In_Escrow or #FamilyFriend if it has more than one word; the underscore symbol acts as a space in the first example.
The following special characters are not able to be used in hashtags
!@#$%^&*()_+=`~/?.>,<\‘“{[}]|
How to Manually Add a Hashtag From a Lead Profile
One of the easiest ways to create and add a hashtag is within a lead profile. This method creates the hashtag for future use and applies it to that specific lead.
To manually create and add a hashtag from a lead profile:
Log in to btPRO.
Click on 'Smart CRM'.
Navigate to your desired lead and open their profile.
Click on the Hashtags dropdown menu.
Type in the new hashtag you would like to create OR search for an existing hashtag.
Click 'Enter' or click on the desired hashtag from the dropdown.
Upon adding the hashtag, a note will be added to the timeline and will be displayed in the hashtag section.
How to Manually Add a Hashtag From a Lead Note
Another method of creating or adding a hashtag from a lead profile is by using the "Add Note" option.
If you are adding notes to a lead timeline about a recent conversation or search result, for example, you can also add a hashtag. This is helpful if you use #Engaged or #Prefers_Texting labels to quickly determine a contact's engagement level or preference.
Log in to btPRO.
Click on 'Smart CRM'.
Navigate to your desired lead and open their profile.
Click on 'Add Note' in the top right corner of the profile.
Type your notes into the 'Note' box that appears.
Type your desired hashtag in the box that appears with the # symbol in front of it.
Example: #mynewhashtag
Click 'Save'.
A new note will be added to the lead timeline along with the hashtag.
It will appear in the left-hand column under the Hashtags section and in your note.
NOTE: If a hashtag is manually removed from a lead, adding a note to the lead with the hashtag will not automatically re-add the hashtag to the lead. You will need to use the 'hashtags' section to re-add the tag.
How to Manually Add a Hashtag From the Smart CRM
The 'More Actions' drop-down in your Smart CRM includes an option to create a new hashtag and mass apply it to multiple leads.
Log in to btPRO.
Click on 'Smart CRM'.
Filter the Smart CRM to identify the leads you'd like to apply the hashtag to.
Check the boxes next to the names of the desired leads.
Click on 'More Actions'.
Click 'Add Hashtag(s).
Type the new hashtag you would like to create or select an existing hashtag from the dropdown.
Press 'Enter' or click on the hashtag.
Click 'Update Tags'.
This will apply your hashtag to all selected leads.
How to Automatically Add a Custom Hashtag to Leads
When using some of the btPRO lead generation tools, there are options to automatically add custom hashtags to new leads upon creation.
Using automatic hashtags can streamline your lead organization process and remove manual steps - freeing up time you can better spend on nurturing your clients and growing your business.
Adding Hashtags via Squeeze Pages
When creating a Squeeze Page, there are options to select an existing hashtag or create a new one, so that leads who sign up through the page are automatically tagged.
When creating a Squeeze Page, complete all fields to create a Squeeze Page and include a value in the 'Hashtag' field.
Adding Hashtags via Landing Pages
When creating a Landing Page, there are also options to select an existing hashtag or create a new one, so leads who sign up through the page are automtically tagged.
When creating a Landing Page, complete all necessary fields and include a value in the 'Hashtag' field at the top of the page.
NOTE: Don't add the "#" symbol. If added it will display twice: "##CarlsbadProp".
TIP: You can enter multiple hashtags by separating them with a comma and no space. For example, the field should look like this: Lender_Ad,RealOneMortgage.
Adding Hashtags via Zapier
If you are using a Zapier integration to push leads into btPRO from an external source, the Zap can be configured to append a hashtag to the lead record upon creation.
When creating a Zap, in step 2, enter your desired hashtag(s) in the 'Tags (Multiple)' field:

TIP: You can enter multiple hashtags by separating them with a pipe and no space. For example, the field should look like this: ZapierLead|CashBuyer.
Pre-configured Hashtags that Automatically Append to Leads
In some other btPRO lead generation tools and marketplace add-ons, pre-configured hashtags are automatically added to new leads upon creation.
