✅ What dental treatments are covered by Lassie insurance?

🪥 Preventive dental care and tooth cleaning

Regular preventive dental care aims to support ongoing dental hygiene and can reduce the risk of disease or other complications. Lassie’s preventive budget can be used for:

  • Purchasing toothbrushes and toothpaste for your pet from the vet

  • Professional tooth cleaning performed by a veterinarian, including cleaning performed under anesthesia

🤕 Tooth diseases and injuries

Lassie insurance covers treatment for dental diseases and injuries, as long as they are not otherwise excluded. Covered conditions may include:

  • Broken or fractured teeth

  • Periodontal disease

  • Gingivitis and other inflammatory dental conditions

❌ What dental treatments are not covered by Lassie insurance?

📅 A waiting period for FORL coverage

For cats, there is an 18-month waiting period for FORL (Feline Odontoclastic Resorptive Lesions) starting from the insurance activation date.

Important details:

  • If your cat shows signs or symptoms of FORL before the start of insurance or during the 18-month waiting period, any treatments or operations related to FORL will not be covered.

  • This exclusion applies even if the treatment or operation occurs after the waiting period ends.

⚠️ Other exclusions

According to paragraph 4.h. of the insurance terms, the following are excluded from coverage:

  • Cosmetic dental treatments and corrections

  • Preventive dental treatments beyond the preventive budget

  • Dentures or dental prosthetics and related examinations

  • Surgeries or treatments for tooth or jaw anomalies

This means that treatments for persistent milk teeth, as well as dental treatments that are not exclusively pain-relieving, dentures, fillings and treatments or operations for tooth or jaw anomalies are currently not included in the insurance coverage.

ℹ️ Please note that other exclusions may also apply. For example, dental conditions are also not covered if they are pre-existing or occur during the general 30-day waiting period. Please refer to paragraph 4 of Lassie's insurance terms and conditions for a full understanding of exclusions from coverage.
