What is FORL?
FORL (Feline Odontoclastic Resorptive Lesions) is a common and painful dental disease in cats. It occurs when the tooth and root structure begin to dissolve, often leading to severe pain and tooth loss. FORL is also sometimes called "TR" (short for tooth resorption).
Does Lassie insurance cover FORL?
Yes, FORL is covered in all our insurance packages after the special 18-month waiting period up to the coverage amount named in your insurance letter.
In a case of FORL, acute pain relief measures such as tooth extraction and necessary medications are covered at the discretion of the treating veterinarian, provided specific conditions are met.
To qualify for coverage:
- The disease must not be pre-existing.
- Your cat cannot show any signs or symptoms of FORL before the insurance starts.
- Your cat cannot develop any signs or symptoms of FORL during the 18-month waiting period after the insurance begins.
If these conditions are met, treatments and operations related to FORL can be covered under your Lassie insurance.
Important to know about the waiting period
The 18-month waiting period starts from the date your Lassie health or surgery insurance begins.
If your cat shows signs or symptoms of FORL before or during this period, any related treatments or surgeries will not be covered, even if they occur after the waiting period ends or if the final diagnosis is only made after the end of the waiting period.
