Paying your insurance contributions on time and in full is a contractual obligation. If your payments fall behind, the automated dunning process will start. This process includes reminders, deadlines, and, if the issue remains unresolved, cancellation of your insurance policy.
🐾 Keep your policy active and your pet safely insured by paying close attention to your payments and following the instructions in the dunning notifications!
How will I be notified if my payments are in arrears?
Lassie notifies you immediately when a payment fails. You may receive:
Email notifications
In-app notices in the Lassie App
Alerts in the payment portal
Push notifications
Text messages (in some cases)
Each message includes a link to the payment portal, where you can review the unpaid invoice and pay it directly.

I received a payment reminder. What does it mean?
A payment reminder is sent automatically when your most recent open invoice has not been paid. The reminder marks the official start of the dunning process.
The reminder includes:
The amount owed
The billing period for which the payment is overdue
Information about possible cancellation
The pending cancellation date if payment is not resolved
You will receive a series of reminders, all will relate to the oldest open invoice. If this invoice is paid, then the dunning process will stop, and you will receive no further notifications unless another invoice is overdue.
Will my policy be canceled if I don’t pay on time?
Yes. According to the insurance terms, your policy will be canceled if an overdue invoice remains unpaid for too long. You will receive:
Dunning reminders with the pending cancellation date
A notice that coverage is paused until payment is received
A final cancellation notice if the payment is still not settled
Once canceled, coverage ends, and any future claims will not be reimbursed.
How long do I have to pay after a failed attempt?
The payment deadline depends on which invoice failed:
First payment (initial premium): You have up to two weeks to resolve the failed payment.
Recurring payments: You have up to three months to resolve the missed payment before cancellation occurs.
These deadlines are based on the Lassie insurance terms and conditions, and German insurance regulations.
I want to pay the open invoice. How do I do this?
Every notification you receive contains a button or link that takes you directly to the Lassie payment portal. There, you can:
View your unpaid invoice
Click Pay to complete the payment
