What are the general policy exclusions?

On top of the specific exclusions listed under each type of cover, some General Exclusions (Section 9 of our Policy Wording) apply across the whole policy. In short, we generally won't cover:

  • certain pets, e.g. those under 4 weeks old, used for breeding, or crossed with wild breeds

  • certain dogs, e.g. those that have attacked or bitten, or are prohibited under the Dangerous Dogs Act (see our article above for the full list)

  • certain pet owners, e.g. those with unspent convictions for fraud or dishonesty, or who are banned from keeping animals

  • certain costs, e.g. clinical trials, breeding-related treatment, routine or preventative care, and costs above your cover limits

  • claims involving intentional harm or criminal activity, pre-existing conditions, or anything that falls within a waiting period

This is just a summary. For the full, exact wording, you can read our Policy Wording document, or get in touch and we'll be happy to check something specific for you.
