Do I need to worry about wear and tear?

Nope. We expect your device to show signs of everyday use. It’s totally fine to return it with:

  • Some scuffs or fading

  • Up to 2 deep scratches (under 3cm) on the screen

  • Small dents or paint changes

We call this fair wear and tear - and you won’t be charged for it.

What if my device gets damaged?

If your device comes back with damage that goes beyond fair use, we may need to charge for repairs. This includes things like:

  • Cracked screens or casing

  • Liquid damage

  • Locked devices (e.g. Find My still switched on)

  • Missing accessories

We only ever charge what it costs to repair the device and get it ready for its next use. Most people aren’t charged at all.

Want extra peace of mind?

Add optional Raylo insurance at checkout. It covers you for accidental damage, loss, and theft - so you’re protected if the unexpected happens.

FAQs

How much could I be charged?

It depends on the damage and your device. Any potential charges will be outlined in your Hire Agreement when you sign up.

Why do I have to pay for damage?

We don’t charge for fair wear and tear. But if your device needs repairs, this just covers those costs so it’s ready for the next person to use.
