Updated over 2 weeks ago

This article explains the features of the new LegalOn. For information on the current version’s product features, please refer to this page.

LegalOn is a comprehensive platform designed to support all legal operations in your organization — from managing internal legal knowledge to handling legal requests, drafting and reviewing contracts.

LegalOn is modular, allowing you to implement only the features you need, based on your specific workflows.

  • Matter Management streamlines the handling of legal requests, allowing you to easily track, organize, and manage legal matters across your organization.

  • Review performs risk checks on contracts, draft new contracts, and more.

  • LegalOn Assistant is an AI-powered legal chatbot that answers your questions using information from across LegalOn.

Legal workflow

In daily business operations, teams often face legal tasks such as handling legal issues or drafting and reviewing contracts. For these tasks, they typically consult with the legal department.

  1. Legal matters begin when the legal department receives a request, such as contract drafting, review, or legal consultation.

In LegalOn, these are called "Matter."

A "Matter" refers to a series of communications related to a single contract or legal consultation.

  2. The legal department reviews the draft (prepared by the business unit or partner), checks for risks, and proposes revisions—this is called contract review.

  3. After review, contracts are finalized and signed with the counterparty.

  4. Signed contracts are stored and managed in compliance with laws and internal rules, including renewal and termination dates.

Data management in LegalOn

This section explains the basic concept of data management in LegalOn.

Tenant

LegalOn creates a dedicated tenant for each organization (such as a company or law firm) that subscribes to the service.

A tenant provides your organization with its own secure, isolated workspace in the cloud.

Workspace

A workspace is where files—such as legal matters and contracts—are stored. Workspaces can be organized in a hierarchical structure.

Only IT administrators can create top-level workspaces.

For more details, please refer to:

User

A user is an individual within a tenant who accesses LegalOn using their account (email address). Users can utilize the modules available to them based on their license.

Each user can have the following roles:

  1. User Type
Grants permission to use the contracted modules for daily work.

  2. Administrator Roles
There are two types of administrators:

  • IT Administrator manages tenant-wide system settings such as users and user groups.

  • Module Administrator manages settings for specific modules your organization has contracted.

User licenses must be assigned to users to access each module's features.

User group

A user group allows you to organize users into groups. Assigning access permissions to workspaces can be done efficiently by applying them to user groups.

For details, please refer to [How to manage your user groups]

Files

LegalOn handles three types of files:

  • Contracts

  • My templates

  • Other files

Contracts and My templates can be managed with version control and status tracking.
