[New] How to view Comparison results

Updated over 2 weeks ago

This article explains the features of the new LegalOn. For information on the current version’s product features, please refer to this page.

Overview

When you compare contracts in LegalOn, you can review the results in two ways:

  1. Compare full text: See the entire text with all differences highlighted.

  2. Compare by article: Align and compare individual clauses, even if order or wording differs.

Compare full text

In Compare full text page, all differences between the two documents are highlighted.

  • Changed sections appear with highlights.

  • Lines that contain any differences will have a light background shade to make them easy to spot.

⚠️ Notes

For notes about comparing tables within the contract, see [Handling tables in Comparison results].

Compare by article

In Compare by article page, the system automatically aligns the clauses in the comparison target file to match the structure of the source file.

  • Differences are highlighted within each clause.

  • Clauses that do not exist in the source file appear on the right side.

  • You can toggle highlights on/off for easier reading.

Drag & Drop clauses:

You can manually rearrange clauses if needed:

  1. Drag a clause you want to move.

  2. Drop it into an unmatched section (No Match) or the “Clauses Not in Source” list.

Download results:

Compare by article results can be downloaded for record keeping.
See: [Download clause comparison results (Excel)].

⚠️ Notes

Depending on the contract structure, Compare by article feature may not align correctly. If that happens, you’ll see an error message and the system will switch to Compare full text feature automatically.

📌 Tables within comparison results may display differently. See [Handling tables in Comparison results] for details.

Switching between Comparison views

  • If you compare versions, the default view is Compare full text page.

  • If you compare a similar contract, the default view is Compare by article page.

You can switch views any time by clicking the tabs at the top left of the comparison results screen.

💡 Info

The right-hand tab in Compare by article page (showing unmatched clauses) can be hidden with the [×] button and shown again by clicking [Compare].
